im guessing Maverick would know best
Anyway, moving on from all the one eyed ranting and raving... either for or against iphones, androids, llamas or any other spotted animals...
Hmm, this has made me think twice about upgrading my 3G LOL...
As with millions of other pieces of released software I am sure it has bugs... Apple are hardly unique there. Flash it back to 3.1.3 if you need to. Downgrade iPhone 3G 4.0 OS to 3.1.3 Firmware on Windows & Mac Not for the faint hearted, and yes it shouldn't be necessary, but hey it happens.
I'm going to grab my Dad's newly upgraded iPhone 3GS and see if that connects OK to my Skoda kit (which is a D version).

sharkablue,
Saw your posts on your hunt for the new Bluetooth module for VW. I own a Mk6 GTI in Singapore. Just want to chip in my knowledge since I'm intending to upgrade my car's BT module to the 9W7 or 9ZB too.
I currently have the Kufatec Fiscon installed onto my car for BT. My car comes with RCD-510 and I do get all the feature, MFD control, on-screen control in RCD-510 including dialpad and addressbook access. It also comes with A2DP music streaming but this stupid connection only streams the audio via the telephone audio interface so it's just mono (how lame is that?)
I'm planning to yank out the Kufatec module and sell it and install the 9W7 or 9ZB to my car instead.
You were asking if it would work in your RCD-510 for the 9W7 or 9ZB, I reckon it would. After all, my Kufatec is 3rd party and it could enable dialpad, addressbook, onscreen control on my RCD-510, I don't see why it wouldn't work for you with the 9W7 or 9ZB.
Good luck in sourcing for it, I may even need your help to source me an unit too if you could
Cheers,

I have an iPhone 3GS, upgraded to iOS4, and the base level VW factory bluetooth (so no screen controls). I haven't tested the phone function since upgrading the OS but the phone is picking up the bluetooth. One thing I did notice, though, was that I can now stream the ipod through the bluetooth audio. Unfortunately, this overrode the MDI connection, so I was getting nothing through that.GTI | Carbon | Man | 5 door | Leather | 18" Detroit | Bluetooth | MDI | Bi-Xenon

Hey guys just an update:
How do the FISCON Bluetooth kits (Basic and Pro) compare to the Skoda kit? They both seem to offer the same things.
Something which I found in this thead: FISCON Bluetooth unit - Page 4 - VW GTI Forum / VW Rabbit Forum / VW R32 Forum / VW Golf Forum - Golfmkv.com
Was that the Skoda uses the OEM Mic in the Golf? and with Fiscon they need to use their own mics. So does that mean the MK6 already has a MIC installed in the car? and the Skoda kit just plugs into it?
And the most important thing: DO DEALERS FIT THE FISCON UNITS? I have confirmation from my dealer that they can install and fit the Skoda kit for $1500. So I was just wanting to see what the Fiscon units were like in comparison.MK6 GTI 3 Door - Candy White - DSG - Sunroof - 18" Detroit - ACC - PA - RC - MDI - BT - RNS510.

I have found the differences between the Basic and Pro Fiscon kits:
FISCON Bluetooth Handsfree
Pro = Operation with keys on the navigation menu, menu and data on the navigation menu.
So is this the same thing with the RCD510? because having a phonebook stored and displayed on the RCD is essential for me.MK6 GTI 3 Door - Candy White - DSG - Sunroof - 18" Detroit - ACC - PA - RC - MDI - BT - RNS510.

I have found a video on youtube with it working, However it dont know if it is the Basic or Basic Plus kit
YouTube - RCD510 working with Fiscon Bluetooth in a VW Golf MK6
Anyway...I just need to know:
- if anyone knows what this is like compared to the Skoda kit
- issues with iPhone OS4 and/or iPhone 4
- Can VW Dealers fit this.
Seperate note:
Where is the Mic installed in cars fitted with the Skoda kit vs the Fiscon stuff? I was hoping there was a mic hole where the sunglass holder is in the overhead console?MK6 GTI 3 Door - Candy White - DSG - Sunroof - 18" Detroit - ACC - PA - RC - MDI - BT - RNS510.
