  • Mk6 Golf Bluetooth that works with iPhone. Need advice and Dealer Help!

    Hey guys,

I am in the process of sorting out what I want when I finally order my Mk6 GTI.

Bluetooth is a very important option that I must have in my car, but I do need it to work with my iPhone, and I do need it to work so that I can see whos calling, and so I can browse all my contacts via the MFD and/or RNS510/RCD510.

From what I have read in the following thread:

The 'Skoda Bluetooth Kit' is apparently the best way to go for the Mk6 Golf if you are after a proper fully functioning Bluetooth setup:

    With the latest version being:

1Z0035729 C (revision C is apparently the latest version, and supersedes version D)

I have found the unit here:

at a very nice price of $450 Australian with shipping.

    NOW!!!

I need to know, can VW Dealers just order this part in and install it? so I dont have to go through this stupid and frankly annoying process of having to get a proper functioning bluetooth solution in the car?

    Or

Can I order this in, and get the VW Dealer to install this once the car arrives?

I refuse to have to resort to pull apart my car once it arrives to get this setup, so if the dealer cannot do it, are there places in Victoria where I can go to get this done if worse comes to worse?

Go the skoda kit rev C, works properly with iPhone.

Highly doubt vw would fit it as the sell a more expensive Nokia kit. Just fit it afterwards.

Maybe you'd get a better response rate if you posted in (or asked a mod to move this thread to) the Car Audio and Electronics forum? Especially with regard to installation advice.

In one of our demo's at the moment we have the new Bluetooth touch phone kit, which is a Volkswagen genuine accessory. The iPhone works with it and of course it's integrated into the stereo unit.

I like it, you control your phone from the touch screen or via voice commands, your contacts are imported into it (but not stored on it so once you disconnect they are no longer in the unit, which I also like) and it works well.

Here's a picture of the screen:

I've seen a bit about this now, I have to say why on earth would you fit another device with another screen? The stereo / MFD already have capability to provide everything that little screen does, without having another (ugly to boot) thing stuck on your dash and looking like an afterthought?

Ahh well its good to know they can supply and kit the Skoda kit.

I am amazed that VW do not offer a proper Bluetooth option for their cars.

The cheap one is rubbish and doesnt actually intergrate with the car correctly.

and their premium unit only works with a very very very select group of phones that support remote sim access...

does anyone know if the part number that VW can order in for us is different to what we are viewing online?

Agree, that looks **** as do tomtom's etc. the whole idea is to get good integration given the big touch screen (obviously wont be as cheap).

                      Bollocks.

The Standard Bluetooth kit pairs up, and providing you've set your phone up correctly, works every time. What more do you want the entry-level kit to do? For the majority of customers this is all they require.

As for RSAP-capable phones, there's tonnes out there. Every Nokia N-series phone has RSAP, as do all the Nokia E-series phones, and there's plenty more that Nokia do. Not to mention HTC's various models. Seriously, the list is growing all the time.

I think the problem is it didn't work with iphone though?

The on-dash is a good cheaper solution for people that dont want to go all out, depending how much it is.

It's just the premium kit that uses rSAP and requires a Nokia (mostly) phone.

The basic kit apparently works fine with the iPhone.

Don't blame Volkswagen and Nokia for that. Blame Apple for their ignorance to compatibility.

Besides, you can always jailbreak an Iphone to do what you want with it.

The skoda kit is what the dealers should be selling and installing.. proper OEM equipment and works with most phones that i know of (I have the kit and works perfectly).

Being the same company can't understand why Skoda get the better stuff, all the part numbers would be the same and everything.

I already upgraded my last phone to suit a bluetooth kit (Alpine) but didn't worth with it either so gave up on the whole system and got the RNS510 and OEM Skoda.

Considering how many people have iphones it would be good to make sure it works with them (especially for the price of premium dealer bluetooth).

I bet that dash thing costs more than a Parrot brand of the same thing, so why wouldn't you buy that.
