Im not sure is it related to this:

    poor throttle response at start
(only 1.4 TSI 122PS) - The engine responds poorly to gas, this can lead to the stalling of the engine when pulling away.- There is an update of the engine control unit. Error VW complain.

and it is coming from this German website (translated)

I am concern because my daughter and wife are driving 90TSI ... current mileage 3000km and no problems.

...as in the same thing I mentioned back in #8 Mirsad. Strange thing is - if that is the cause, surely it would have been addressed by now as that issue dates back 9 months. Any recent build TSI90 should have the ECU fix in place I would have thought. But is seems not.

That is what I was hopping when purchasing 90TSI in Dec 09 .(with built date Sep 09) anyway my daughter and wife are without problems (touch wood) ...

I posted that website address again because some people (like me ... some threads are pages long) are not reading threads from their first page.

Anyway hope that people with DSG stalling are going to fix their problems.

Mine did it again yesterday whilst waiting at an intersection. Engine was completely warmed up too. Maybe the little guy inside the mechatronic unit had a sore left leg and needed a bit of a rest.

Did you manage to find the problem?. I have got a Golf TSi and had only done 400km and experienced it at the red light when I tried to move. My daughter had the same problem and this was quite dangerous as the car was moving and it stalled.

              1 day old 90TSI Stalling ...!!!

I took delivery of my beautiful white Mk6 Golf 90TSI with automatic 7spd DSG gearbox yesterday evening. Tonight I was driving it in the rain and came to halt at a traffic light.. looked to get going on the green light and the car just stalled...!!

The battery light came on for some reason.. I turned off the headlights, put it in P, took the key off and started again and it worked fine.

This has really scared me... what if i stalled in the middle of an intersection??

Has anyone else had this problem? Is this a software glitch with the ECU?? What should I do? I will call the dealer in the morning.. but any ideas??

Check the battery terminals first, make sure that they're not lose.

The battery light came on because the vehicle stalled. This has been something that all cars I have ever had anything to do with have always done.

A repair for this came out just recently and is fairly simple. It needs to be done at a dealership though. Hopefully your dealership can squeeze you in as quickly as possible so you can enjoy your new car rahter than worry about it stalling.

Given the car was brand new I was wondering if the DSG had been given a chance to properly adapt before it was delivered to the customer - My 118TSI with DSG was a bit jerky for the first few km before the gearbox adapted.

Do you know anything more about the repair you mention?

So we called VW emergency and they sent out an RACV guy who said the engine was brand new and so it wasnt revving the right revs.. we need to take it out for a long drive to get it used to the throttle response and that should be ok.

We then called VW dealership once they opened and they said they have encountered this problem before.. so we will take it into the service centre for an upgrade to the ECU.

Hopefully this will fix it, but i am very pissed off that they knew this problem exists but didnt upgrade the ECU in the first place!!

Definately a problem that is popping up here and there. A friend picked up a 90TSI DSG a few months back and the stalls only just started occuring for her. Went to the dealer for an ecu upgrade, will see how that goes.

So we picked up the car this morning and the dealer said that they performed an upgrade of the ECU as that did flag in the diagnostics. I feel the car is shuddering much less now at low speeds in D and R, so that is good. Looking forward to taking this baby out for long drives now

                              90TSI DSG Stalling

                              Hi all,

Today when I was coming home my DSG stalled for the first time.
Not sure what triggered that, can it be a hot weather (today in Perth it went up to +42C).
During the freeway drive oil temp went up to +102. I'm not a race driver, don't push the car to the maximum.
Trying to drive actually quite carefully, if it's too hot - not blasting aircon to the max and all this sort of stuff.

Should I be concerned as my car only 6 month old. Didn't expect this from brand new vehicle.
After it stalled during the turn (I was doing about 40km/h prior that as I was going through the back streets), it started again without problem. Do I need to be worried?

                              Thanks

                                I would say no.

This will sometimes happen if the conditions (revs, load, gear) are just right.

Your car can operate in those temparatures with the AC maxxed, the stereo maxxed, and every other bell & whistle turned on.
