That thread is not just the "B Pillars". Basically, it's for all "sound" issues around the doors. Because you're driving along, you hear a rattle or ticking or a squeaking, you know it's coming from that area, but you don't know what it is. Therefore you need to start investigating and checking things off.
Please go back and have another look. For example, within the first 5 pages they talk about B Pillar, Door Seals, Lubrication of the door lock mechanism, the door latch cable, and the door trim. These last three sound like your problem, and the solutions are within that thread.

If your problem isn't solved by a post in that thread, then when you take it to the dealer and they figure it out, let us know and I'll add it to that thread as it will be an issue that no one has ever had before...

    • i had a similar issue in a previous car, and whilst it sounded like the passenger door, it turned out to be the passenger seat.
The backrest was moving forward and backwards when there was no passenger to hold it in place

I tested it by rigging up a strap from the front headrest to the rear headrest to put a little tension on it.
the noise went away when i did this, however I never found a cure..

      • ok i got back from the dealer and.... he claims he cant hear it. i admit, its rather faint but i just know its there! anyway, i gave the car a wash and it some more dampened the click?? no idea how that works but it helped.

i noticed that when it clicks, all i have to do is push down firmly on the plastic strip between the inlay and the leather and it'll stop, but only for a bit. so i'm pretty much dead certain its from the door. i'll get back when i bring it back to the dealer to install my radio and sunglasses box. ( apparently they both failed within a month. geez)

@ryan the beige is just lovely aint it! i just wouldnt take the black then no matter more hard they tried to push it to me. cleaning it is a real pain though.

        • What started out as a blissfully quiet car has not turned into a horribly squeaky car. It creaks when I get into drivers seat. It creaks over every little bump on the road. I notice a similar noise when I press on the B-Pillar. Does anyone have this problem? Were the dealers able to fix this? I have got it book for inspection tomorrow. Is this a feature of the Golfs? It started squeaking about 3 months after I bought it. It was not too bad, then. I took it back to barloworld and they greased the door seals. Did not make much difference. I thought I could live with it but it is got to a point where I sometimes would rather drive my 10 year old Holden Astra.

          • Brought car to dealer today, they said it was the door sills. And yes all the info is on this thread. They have booked my car in for Krytox 2 weeks from now. I have also ordered the Gummi pflege, out of stock in Waxit Melb, so ordered from overseas. Hope to get it early. If that works I will not need to take it for Krytox. Will post results here after treatment.

Gummi fledge flopped! Don't bother. If I damp wipe the door jams and seals I get a days creak-free driving. If the GTI wasn't so much fun to drive I'd be seriously pissed. S

              • Hi all,

Gummi fledge worked for my squeaky rubbers!! Make sure you put it on all the seals including the seal that runs vertically on the front edge of the back door (the seal that you can see when you open the driver's door. I think the spray wax that I use on the car can get onto the rubbers and it's what causes the squeaking.

I haven't used Krytox so I can't comment but my VW service manager has mentioned this is what they use for this issue.

                Hope this helps!

                • Thanks for feedback guys. I washed the car yesterday and cleaned the seals both on the car body and on the all the doors, it helped reduce the squeaks but not satisfactory. When the apply the Gummi, I will advise on results.

                  • Just to add, on previous cars I had the squeaky seal issue (in the UK). Bought the Gummi Fledge and the stuff worked a treat. You had to ensure it was applied correctly, with clean rubbers first, and do it on both seals, but I can say from my experience the creak was there, applied the stuff and it was gone and thus I can assure people in my experience it worked brilliantly. Not cheap given few places sell it but worth it for the peace of mind and silence!

                    • Me too had the terrible squeaks. It happened on all my 4 doors after my first wash. Guess it was the bad car shampoo that I've used.

Brought the car to the dealer, they polished the door jambs and it was quiet only for A WEEK!

Next, bought Gummi Fledge and applied onto the rubber attached to the car body. Doesn't help.
Last as a desperate resort, applied Gummi Fledge onto the door felts (was reluctant to apply as they were not rubbers), squeaks were gone! It's been a month now and still no squeaks.
                      Hope it helps..

                      • Thanks for that info, good timing. My Gummi Fledge just arrived and I should be applying it soon. May I ask how you applied it? Any special precautions when applying it on the door felts?

Thanks. Was wondering about the felt part on top part of door edges.

Someone else recommended using this $3 job.

Gummi Fledge should be applied to both the felt and the door rubber. I did it on a sunny day, and wiped all door rubbers with a damp cloth. Let them dry (which was v quick) then just ran the GF around the edges, medium speed. Obvious wet mark where it was applied, then I let it dry and that was it. Lasted about 6 months before i 'thought' I may be hearing it again so did another application. Four doors took about 20 minutes and worked a treat. Not much you can do incorrectly to be honest.

I did the same steps as slipshot mentioned. Except I didn't let it dry and drove the car out for dinner straight. Surprisingly it worked.

My next aim is to fix the rattle coming from rear passenger door. I could hear it very clearly when I am turning left or on rough road surfaces.
Brought it to the dealer and they removed the door and put it back. But the rattling is still there.
If I press against the door panel even with little pressure, the rattling is not there.
Suspect might have some loose wires inside the panel.
Tried to remove the door but don't have the right tools and knowledge..

                              • I applied the Gummi Fledge yesterday after car had a good wash and dried. I applied it to all the rubber around the body of the car and the rubber and felt on all the 4 doors. Left it for an hour or more and took it for a drive. Came back with a big grin. The car is once again blissfully quiet (except the tyre noise on rough roads, which is another known feature). Today I took the car out for several longer drives and the squeaks are gone. Hope it will remain that way. I use the Armor All car wash. I suspect this is probably not the best for the Golf rubber sills. I am not sure if the squeaks will come back again after another wash. Any recommendations on what car wash to use on the Golf would be much appreciated. Thanks for all the info on Gummi Fledge. Would definitely recommend it. I am glad I did not take it in to the dealer for Krytox. The Gummi Fledge was easy to apply, not messy at all.
