  • Sounds good mate

I've got the two areas under the front extensions down to the black plastic but stone chips as well in other places

    Not worth repairing.

One say I'll get the front plate holder removed, filled and reprinted maybe

Doubt I'll bother. I drove the GTI for a year with a good sized scrape on the rear wheel arch from an unknown carpark attacker.

    • D Day tomorrow. Will take a before shot of my wifes flared guard (previously wrongly described it as her bumper) tonight and post up before and after shots just for interest. Won't bother with my repairs because hard to get good shots of the chips.

Hahaha! Not going to ask you what you thought I meant by her flared guard.

Hope your photography skills let you show us the flared guard without exposing too much of the headlights

I know we humans are social beings , but what is it that compels some people to do this?

BTW, I collected my car from the dealer yesterday after being in for a warranty related matter and after washing it today, I notice a 12mm scratch on the lower part of the drivers door. Looks like it has hit a part of the hoist. The car had done less than 4000ks so I don't need to elaborate on howw pi$$ed off I am.

He apologetic response is genuine and has proven himself to be an asset to the dealership he represents. Whilst I would much rather none of this had happened, my faith has been restored.

I collected my car from Shipstones Shipstone yesterday and am very happy with the result, my untrained eye cannot detect the repair. I would certainly recommend them, they are VW and Porsche preferred panel/paint repairer.

This ordeal has cost me a day + off work, the cost of paint protection to the repainted area and a bit of heartache and hassle. But, I can't fault the attitude and actions of my service manager. So its all good now.

              • [QUOTE=spellbound;794919]Well its my turn , travelling to geelong on friday just over the border , one of those tractors with grassmower attached flicks a fist size rock at me , bang on the front bumper just below grill , large lacerations, plus a chip out of headlight cover , thank god no bonnet damage.

Weird part is heard the bang and there dancing before my eyes is the rock , but it just flicked to one side and was gone , had visions of it coming through the screen , are the perils of the road trip .

Finally got time to get it in for quote ,all fixed, got the final okay from the insurance co last friday in on tuesday , parts in wednesday , new headlight cover , new grille, and painted front bumper ,back today , looking like new , with parts close to $1000.00 , all for one little rock .

                      • just dropped the wheel off to Depulu wheels on the gold coast.. fingers crossed it comes back like new!

quick question... they threw a 18inch detroit wheel on so i can keep running the car to work.. the tyre light came on the dash saying check tyres.. this won't damage the axels or suspension or anything else if I'm running an 18 on the rear corner and 19's on the other 3 corners..? or will it?

                          • Tuesday night, on Putty Rd, discovered GTI + Wallaby =

In an 80 section, it jumped out (as they do) and I slowed maybe 10km/h at most as I had very little time to react. Hit the front left, low down. Pushed the foglight through, broke all the mounts where it attaches to the bumper and cracked the bumper just above that and also the top edge of the bumper on the side is sticking out a bit.

Waiting on the quote for repairs but will need a new bumper.

No idea about the wallaby as there was nowhere to pull over (safely or otherwise), it was dark and rather wet at the time.

Glad to hear you're ok (you are ok, right?) and hope the car's all fixed soon without too much hassle.
