  • First damage after 8 months.
Had a bit of an incident with a bike falling off the roof rack. My fault!
Not sure if I should bother getting it fixed or not? I'm with Shannon's.

    Pedal must've scraped down glass:

Then hit just above door handle:

    Handlebar hit here perhaps?

Ouch, that kind of dent would drive me insane after a while, all I would be able to do was focus on that one spot on the car every time I look at it (it is bad enough I keep looking to the bottom of those two pointy bits on the R front bumper and seeing the scrapes!)

        Nasty.

Paintless dent removal should be able to get the dent out of the rear quater panel and a polish may reduce the appearance of the scratch.

Oh wow! I see what you mean. Can you recommend a kit I can buy to do this?

          • That is not a diy job. Those dent master guys have a real talent that only comes with a lot of training and practise. One slightly wrong move and you would make it worse than it already is. It requires lighting at perfect angles,a good eye,a good hand, and the right amount of brute force.
In the video you linked,a proper not noticeable repair would take hours, that vid it was still visible (as the vid poster suggests they did it on a time budget).

Took my car in for a wheel alignment and was shown I had a buckle on the driver's side front wheel. (I didn't even notice it was there and I check the tyre pressure weekly!) Rallimax Sports does straightening of alloy wheels however they are all at some rally in Tassie. Any suggestions on what to do until then? Should I swap the wheel with the back or should I replace with the rear wheel and put on the space saver at the back? The wheel / tyre seems to be ok, no pressure lost and I have just done a round trip to Sydney averaging about 120Km/hr (before it was pointed out that I had the buckle).

I wouldn't be too concerned about it — just don't do anything stupid until you get it fixed. If it concerns you, swap it to the back.

I know we humans are social beings , but what is it that compels some people to do this?

BTW, I collected my car from the dealer yesterday after being in for a warranty related matter and after washing it today, I notice a 12mm scratch on the lower part of the drivers door. Looks like it has hit a part of the hoist. The car had done less than 4000ks so I don't need to elaborate on howw pi$$ed off I am.

To my surprise and delight, the Service Manager, who has conducted himself in a most professional manner, has agreed to repair the damage to my car at the repairer of my choice and provide me with a loan car.

He apologetic response is genuine and has proven himself to be an asset to the dealership he represents. Whilst I would much rather none of this had happened, my faith has been restored.

Thanks, the repairer I've chosen is the Porsche preferred repairer and they have an excellent reputation. "Panel beater" and "excellent" don't usually go together.

Sorry to hear of you little mishap.

                        • I got Candy's back wheel back on the car today. The repair is excellent although not an exact match for the other three wheels. Given the car wash covered the cost of $275 and the gouge was pretty unsightly I guess I will need to live with the slight difference from front to back wheel on that side. Probably something I should get used to when considered in light of the $845 replacement cost of a rim alone.

Ahh well - you know what they say... the first one is always the hardest. I did make it a year without anything so that seems pretty good.

                              • I tried this, which worked a bit. It's a crease though, so it didn't pop out like that video. Oh well. It looks better than it did.
Guess I will just leave it for now. Not much else I can do about it, and it's not worth bothering with insurance about it.
