  • One of those windscreen video cameras would've been handy there. I've got a GoPro but it's not ideal for continuous recording to to not being able to charge it while it's mounted in the case
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

    • Noooooooooo...

I am not disputing that it's not my fault and never have.

I been to two penal beaters today to get my own quote and it seems my damage alone on my car is lot more than I thought.
My insurance access is only $625 and it won't effect my future rating nor future access.

I just called the guy and explained.
I was silly to think that damage looked minimal but it's more than I though just on my side alone...
My apologies that after some thoughts since the accident, I believe that it was completely unfair for me to ask him to run around and get his own quote. He has no reason to do all this when I was at fault.
If anything, I should be the one who need to find the suitable solution ASAP for him without inconveniencing him or delaying the whole process.

I felt really bad all night.
He was nice about it and his car was all beat up that somehow, I thought I was more in the position to tell him what to do or even to suggest such idea... I am very shamed about this.

Now, it's all in the right process of how it should have from the start.
      I feel better...

By the way, I learned never to guess that damage to the car by the looks of it with my minimal knowledge.

Believe me as soon as you say its a insurance claim, the price will double.

It's not my problem any more.
Access of $625 paid. (which isn't even half of the cost of my my repair cost)
I gave him the insurance claim No' and that's that.

My car is booked in for repair.

That's all there is to it.
Now, I can sleep better knowing I've done the right thing by every one and their four wheeled babies.

Paying the comprehensive insurance year after year and not claiming...( I am not complaining on no accident and no claim at all here!)
Than again, I am so glad I have been doing so.

          • A couple of weeks ago a duck played chicken with the car. Thumped into the bonnet. We pulled over at the time and could only see fluff, no damage. Yesterday was the first time I'd washed the car since then, as I was drying it the light caught the small dent in the bonnet. Dammit! Of course now I can see it, I can't stop seeing it. 7500km and 3 months.

            • Depending where the dent is you might be able to push it out from under the bonnet.

              • Don't try and push it out yourself

Get a PDR tech to take a look at it

Pushing it out yourself can totally deform the dent making PDR even more difficult

                • I wouldn't have a go myself. I'll find a local dent person to remove it.

                  • A branch fell onto my roof as I was driving when my 2010 GTI was barely a year old. Left two small dents on the roof.

Well today, 6 months later, some piece of s ** t has either 'two bobbed' or 'shopping trolleyed' the passengers rear door all the way to the rear bumper whilst it was parked in a car park.

I never park in between cars ever. Today was no exception but the scumbag seems to have gone out of their way to damage my car.

Now to look for a decent repairer on Sydney's Lower North Shore.

I would love to be able to do it to their cars...except they probably own a piece of s@#! anyway

Best of all would be to see them "trolley" your car...and follow them with your trolley and casually run your trolley into their car and see how they like it!!!

Must be a 7500km thing. Same here. 4 months old, 7500km, driving slowly through a carpark yesterday - bang. lady in a parked peugeot 307 backed out, straight into my passenger side. damaged wheel, guard, door panel - about $1500 worth of damage.

All sorted with my insurer and even better, my dad is a panel beater!

take it to the smash repairer across the road from Chatswood Classic Cars Service Centre in Artarmon, that's who they recommend.

                              • Friend of mine had a special order for a new VM (2006) HSV Grange and in transit on the way to the dealer the truck it was on caught fire destroying it. Ha! that would have to be some type of record, he had been waiting over 10 months as well.
