I echo this sentiment, though one of the guys I met this weekend was happy with them. I think the difference was he knew exactly what he wanted when he walked in. if you are wanting to get some info and understand options etc, the Barloworld rep I dealt with would not suit due to being very pushy and impatient.

Having met Dave from Gosford this weekend for a drive, I must say I would be happy to deal with him in the future. He was open about what he could and could not do, and was a very nice easy person to get on with. One thing I can say about him that I can't say about any other salesman I've dealt with, is that he actually makes an effort to understand the vehicle and what it's capable of. I highly recommend him.

It almost certainly will not come in 5 doors.
The previous model Polo GTI was only available in 3 door and the Golf GTI was only 3 door for the first few years.

I only have good words for David from gosford (Central Coast VW)
He has been more than helpful in teh tiguan section and is willing to answer any queries i have had.
Very well worth the visit if you are looking for a car in NSW or SE-QLD (cheap flight and enjoyable drive home)

I know it says 5 doors in teh review but the current polo isn't even out here, let alone the GTI.
The previous model only came in 3 doors and it took a while to get 5 doors in the golf so you might be waiting for a while/ever if you want a 5 door.

the Polo GTI will get LED's as it won't even be released here for at least another year.

I have done some mystery shopping at 2 volkswagen dealerships in the past. one at Denlo Volkswagen Parramatta, and one at chatswood classic cars which both are under the INCHCAPE Automotive Retail group.

I must say even though 2 dealers are under the same company, they can't be more different. Chatswood classic cars at chatswood had immaculate service from reception to the salesman, the salesman was i think tony (an asian guy), he was amazingly good at his job, he knew the cars inside out.

Yet on the other hand, at Denlo Volkswagen parramatta, the service was so poor it's not funny. Walked in, the ONLY person in the showroom with several salesman chatting away, and i didn't even get served for 15 minutes.

Anyways i would recommand going to chatswood classic cars, especially if you are after a test drive, go to them without a doubt, as they have the "drive it you way", it is basically a test drive where you can drive from 15-60 minutes without a salesperson next to you, drive it anywhere you want. Even though Denlo VW Parramatta have the same "drive it your way" i was not offered one, and when i did go for a test drive, the salesperson was sitting there the whole time guiding me where you go, which took approximately 3 minutes!

Worst part is, the manager called and abused me for giving his salesperson a bad report, when he got what he deserved. Hence i'm not going to recommend anyone to go to denlo vw.

Tracey Ryan at Barloworld VW Mascot really looked after us. She went above and beyond and did well on the pricing too.

I also dealt with Tracey at Barloworld Mascot. She couldn't be nicer and has been updating me frequently via email on the delivery status of my car.

i just picked up my 118 tsi from barloworld five dock this afternoon.

couldnt have been more of an ordeal. my finance company had faxed them all payment papers and had the payment cleared by early morning and i waited all day for them to call so i could pick up the car. 330 i called them to ask what was going on and they denied recieving any papers. had to email them everything in order to get them to move.
finance company tried to pay for the car last week but the car itself hadnt even been registered (signed papers 2 weeks ago). had to call them to tell them to register the car.

in short i will never deal with them again.

I recently purchased A VW GTi but have been looking for some time roughly about a year and I can def say the worst dealers I had come across were:

                              - McGrath VW Liverpool. I would rate them as the most dodgiest sales people ever. I actually put a deposit down on a car which they took 1+ months to get it ready. The reason being was that I was getting the Sat NAV retro-fitted but they couldnt do it and refused to give my deposit back until I had to really fight for it. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.

                              - Barloworld VW Five Dock. Really poor service. Waitied around the showroom for an hour with about 2 salespersons walking around after which when I spoke to one of them, they had no idea what the GTi specs were.

                              I would recommend the following:

                              - Barloworld VW Mascot. Sales person was Johnathan and he was excellent. He cut to the chase and went straight to number crunching without any B/S. Ended up buying a car from this guy as the service and preparation were excellent. Got the car within 2 days of deposit.

Hopefully this info will help future VW owners

Sounds as though Jonathan and l3lazin is one in the same person.

Who would be happy to sit down and go straight into pricing. He didn'y show you the car, didn't test drive or offer a test drive and really it appears only showed you any sort of attention because you were going to buy.

It sounds strange you would recommend someone who really skipped the crucks of his job and 3/4 of the experience of buying a car, TV, furniture etc. just to do what a lazy person would and sale you on the price. And we all wonder why they hire monekys as sales staff, cadets and other inexperienced people, because WE reward them with sales!!!
