Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      i'll agree. the difference between the GTD and the GTI is like comparing a hyundai excel to a porsche. diesels ARE slow, e.g. audi and peugeot at lemans.

        • AFAIK there will be no 3 door GTDs sold in Australia, so, yes, that must be 5 door pricing.

                Without ORC.... you can only work out the price on road if you know the State the car will be registered in.

                            • Where are the government lead incentives to go diesel (green), ie lower rego , higher tax deductions for business users etc. Europe is so far ahead of Australia in offering these type of incentives.

                                It may have something to do with the fact that all of Australia's diesel is made from imported raw materials. Current thinking appears to be focused on improving the take up of E10 (we can make the ethanol in country) and LPG (of which we have plenty of reserves). My local council gives discounts to diesels based on their green rating when it comes to the cost of parking permits.
