So how much is it? RRP & best driveaway expected? A basic one would still be 58k driveaway?

Basically, they preferred the R to all the others.Originally posted by WhiteJames View Post
The other video is in German and shows a Red Golf R with Privacy Glass. Can anyone on forum understand German?

PM if you are looking for: R32 rear sway bar; R32 suspension springs; Euro Headlight switches

No point repeating all the specs, which are well known by now and easily understood from the graphics in the video. To be more specific though, he liked how fast it was, its overall dynamics, the responsive steering, how well it held the road and how the ESP is better than any other in its class.Originally posted by sabloke View PostReally? I had no idea being declared #1 means you are the best, even in Germany. Who knew?!

Over the snow stuff, give us some real proper road test videos! Car has been out long enough, surely someone has got it on to a track or "private road"Originally posted by graeme86 View Post

This video review is by Jess Spinks, an Australian journalist for www.drive.com.
Review not has compelling at the Kiwi version; although this was done at intial launch in the Austrian Alps. Good pics of the Blue Colour with Privacy Glass.
Here's an entire United Kingdom website dedicated to the Golf R:
The final three paragraphs till leaves the following conundrum for some of us with a GTI on the ship destined for Aus:
Cheers.

No doubting that the price disparity will be less in Australia between the GTI - v - R.
Statement like this have me concerned about the fun factor in driving:
Looking to make driving fun, not necessary fast.Unfortunately, it’s also a touch boring, expensive and pointless. It isn’t playful and generally isn’t fun. The four-wheel drive makes this car about speed rather than driving, and going fast isn’t always the point. You admire it, appreciate it, acknowledge the brilliance, but never love it.
Cheers.

That's what i found with the R32, well planted doesn't always equal fun. Sure, it's mid corner grip and acceleration out of corners was fun but the weight of the car was a pretty big sore point and the 'fun' could be breaking traction or driving something more nimble.

It's always going to be up to personal opinion.
In each of the links and reviews that you've posted WJ, the reviews have either said it's the best, or they prefer the fact the GTI isn't as good, but is therefore more fun, than the R. So it comes up to what you want. The more reviews you look at, the more it should be obvious to you that there is no point continuing to look at these reviews to help you decide which car is right for you or not....
The ONLY way you'll know, is driving both and then deciding

Reviews always do that though. If there is a cheaper version that offers 90% of the fun then they'll go for that. The price diff o/s as mentioned by Coreying is another factor. But people will justify their purchase regardless of if they could or couldn't afford the other one.
For me it isn't about the price difference. I want more power, AWD and the extra little bits so it isn't really a case of having to choose which one. There is no comparison.

God bless America. Only in the States can you get an M3 for Golf R money.
