Will the RNS510 also connect up to all the same connections at the back of the stock unit?
    GPS antenna?

Does it affect the sound in any way from the speakers?

It shouldn't affect the sound in any way.

It will connect up to the same wiring.
The uk one comes with the sat-nav antenna that also connects to the rear of the stereo.

Welcome to the forums. I did a search on RCD510 and found this thread, and merged your thread into it. Not only does it answer your question, but also explains how to do the installation...

anyone know if those RVC on eBay can be plugged in straight to the back of RCD 510 instead of RNS 510?

hey, so i've installed my new rcd510, and now i'm wondering.... where is the security code? We bought it from Sydney on fleabay, so am waiting for a reply from the guy, but is it on one of the labels? (which i took photos of before putting it in)

What would be the point of it being on the labels? I presume the fleabay guy would need to provide it. Otherwise you may be able to contact VW and give them the serial number of the unit and they could retrieve it.

                  Hi,

So just wondering if there is an update on this ebay site and if anyone has used it. I didnt upgrade golf but would like the SAT NAV system but for 4K its just not worth it.

Also if I do get it how easy would it be to install. I have seen a guy from the US do it but he mentioned about some codec and stuff that needs to be done afterwards?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

$4000 for Sat Nav? Where on earth have you been looking?
Its $2500 on the GTI/GTD/R, and $3000 on lower models that don't already come with the RCD510 as standard.

you're lucky your dealer still wanna accept $4000 for an upgrade to sat nav...

one of the rep in the dealer where I bought my gti told me they won't do it as they'll loose their license for installing satnav, rvc etc on a car that's not supplied with it from factory... so even if I have $1M to pay the it is not "enough" to buy a RNS510 satnav from the dealership here...

That's rubbish... it's offered from VGA as a dealer accessory. It's $3294.50 + installation (now I realise where you may have got the $4k from reaction).

The installation is quite easy. As for the coding, it needs to be done for full functionality but works about 95% w/o it. The extras are a compass and the street location showing up on the MFD. There might be more for navigation but I've only ever done enough to get the compass to show up as I know it's coded correctly. The coding can be done by your local dealership (although they might balk at doing it if they didn't install it themselves) and possibly someone with VCDS.

Yeah $4k from here Golf GTI - Pricing tbh I feel a little silly for not ordering it with the car to start with, but at the time just didnt think it would be worth it.

If you're going to RCD510 then yes it will work, if you're going to RNS510 then it will need to be recoded, otherwise it will work.
That's if you're using genuine bluetooth anyway.
