I wanted to add Privacy Glass to my order and was told that the order would need to be cancelled and re-submitted.
I ordered in the last week of NOV and enquired about the glass just before Xmas. The status of my order was "ordered"and not changed to "building/allocated/built (or whatever it changes to)" so I thought that this wouldn't be a problem, but I guess I was wrong.

Probably best to check with your dealer to see how it affects your order.

I think the OP is referring to the stamp duty, which in NSW is 5% over $45k (from 3%). From the specs (DSG, CW, 18" Detroits) I guess he has currently paid less than $45k.

Yep, you're right Spook, I knew there was something about over 45k and the stamp duty going up.

I think I'll just leave it as is, too much hassle trying to change it, and the point about urban driving is a good one. I loved them on my MPS but did not have to stump up the extra cash as I bought it when it was 18 months old.

I went for a walk tonight to the local VW dealership near my place and saw a silver and carbon steel GTIs in the showroom. The carbon steel one with 18s looked especially good, so if you're waiting on one in that colour, good choice! Both didn't have xenons, and it's a minor point, but I actually prefer the fuller look of the non xenon head lights. Obviously when they are turned on the xenons are turned on they are superior.

          3. Dont expect a discount when added at this late stage.

          4. This is not a Mazda 3, so a direct comparison of cost is not fair.

These are not typical Bi-Xenon's either, they are auto levelling and cornering I believe.

Let us know how you go.
I think by law all Xenons need to be self-leveling.

By the way, love the sig. Can't believe you've already changed it.

Once you have xenons you'll never go back. They're just better, full stop.

$2K might seem like a lot, but I'd be surprised if anyone who gets them will regret ticking the box.

Yeah - I would question whether Brian has ever had Bi-Xenon lights. I'm not sure how it would be possible to call them a 'useless option' if you had ever had them before - because it would be a lie. You could question the value for $2k, but 'useless' is 100% untrue.

My MKV GTI had them, and if it were my choice, I would never have another car without Xenon lights! And yes, I live in suburbia!

The VW Xenon's made such a difference to night driving that practically every person who ever came in my car at night commented on how awesome the headlights are - even the most anti-car female friends I have that wouldn't even notice if one day you had a black car and the next day a red car!

              I'd thoroughly recommend them

Yep i agree to that, its something like going from candle light to a L E D touch in a touch for seeing.

Remember years ago, power steering, central locking and power windows were options. In todays world, who would buy a car without those basics.
So hope in years to come Xenons will be standard as fresh air.

That's the feeling I get. I never used to consider them but after having them this time i'm pretty sure i'd get them next time. A lot of people seem to agree that once you've had them you don't go back.

Correct, I haven't OWNED a car with xenon lights, but my son in law has a WRX which, BTW comes standard with low beam xenons for $40k dollars, not a rip off like VW, and I still say they are an unnecessary waste of dollars for urban driving. If you do a lot of highway at night then go for it! Dont try and talk the rest of us into "needing" them for round town, cause its a w@nk.

Agree 100%. I had a car with them for a weekend and now loath driving my current car at night which doesn't have them! Anyone that says they are a wank, hasn't driven a car with them.

And when you want to go do a late night blast through the hills, they're AWESOME!

We'll have to agree to disagree then.

Just noticed your sig Dave with your order in for an "R", anyone with enough readies to splash for an "R" deserves my respect I hope the xenons are standard 4 you.
                            Respectfully yours,

You must be thinking of cheap HID kits or fog lights.

Mate no one is forcing you to get them, or any other options for that matter, just offering their advice.
