  • GTI 3 door vs 5 door

im about to order a GTI tomorrow. But still undecided with the 3 door vs 5 door.

3 Door looks better overall - but the 5 Door is much more practical.

I went with the 5 Door in case of kids in the next 2-3 years.

I got the 5 door. It is just so much more practical than three, i am always puting stuff in my back seats. I do not usually have people in there but that few time you need to drive more than two it is such a mission getting in and out the back, especially for us tall people =I

even in terms of resale value... With the 5dr you've got a wider audience to cater to. All the middle-aged ladies and gents with families, that market probably wouldn't be available w the 3dr...

You dont lose any cabin space with a 3dr - 3dr look better, 3 door are rarer ( which could help with resale) and I dont care what people say 5 doors like like a honda civic..

At the end of the day, not everyone who buys GTI Golfs have kids so thats my 2 cents - and oh yeah 3 doors are cheaper.. A no brainer for me

i guess 3 drs or 5 drs is all good.
all depends on needs. thanks for opinions.

                  +1 for 5 door.

waaay more practical. unless you plan on just driving yourself and your partner around.

A GTI is a 3dr, simple as that. Anything else is leeching off the legend, haha.

5 door, the car itself isn't a coupe, its just a 5 door hatch... its that simple

Yes I think thats a fantastic point. middle aged ladies drive 5 door GTIs and real GTI enthusiasts drive the proper traditional version

I love these kind of threads. Ultimately get what you think you need or want. But three door golfs will always be way cooler!

Agree - 5 doors are for real estate agents (trust me, I used to be married to one!) 3 doors are for the young and young at heart (like myself). Now I'm single again and the kids have all left home (finally), why would you want 5 doors. Same if your 20 ish with no immediate plans for family etc. Enjoy it while you can I say and worry about the family if it happens. GET THE 3 DOOR
