The new Golf GTI is a high-performance version of the Golf featuring a 200PS turbocharged engine. It has numerous performance and sport-oriented features both inside and out, including a 6-speed direct shift gearbox, sports suspension, alloy wheels, leather sport seats, and more. The GTI provides an engaging driving experience for enthusiasts while maintaining practicality as a Golf variant.

So that should provide some antacid for the wind coming from above.
Read the last page of the brochure. That's from Volkswagen Malaysia which is a country in ASIA and not a suburb in London

        That's through a private importer isn't it?

It was me sort of taking the piss, but i'd suggest the limited import will be for further evaluation or compliance. It is coming, without any solid evidence, because simply it makes no sense not to bring it.

Hey guys (& gals)the beauty of a free market economy is that if your that unhappy with what VW are asking for the GTI (and other models), don’t let your blood pressure take the impact of your frustration, vote with your feet and buy something else that reflects a far more reasonable value proposition:

            or

I guarantee that both of these cars are better equipped in Australia than they are in most other markets; in Australia we get RADIOS in Jumbucks and the Great Wall range comes fully loaded....across the range; got to love that supple Chinese leather....

Personally, ive got a GTI on order that id rather not wait until May (at best I reckon, I think were dreaming with this Feb build stuff) to take ownership of, so once you have signed up for your Proton Jumbuck or Great Wall X240, PM me and I'll talk to your dealer about taking over your spot in the que........

I'm over it anyway, they will be up to the mk7 before the 'rocco ever makes it over, and she's got a wide ar$e.

Does that mean mine was made in Germany? How does one tell?

You have a Mark V 5 Door, made in SA. Production switched when they started production of the Mark VI late in 2008.

                      AUSwho??

Don't say these things to me. It'd almost be like buying a MBP 15 days before WWDC... Almost...

They can't as they don't meet the AU/NZ standard for child seats. From what I could gather the lastest AU/NZ standard is higher in such areas as site impact protection than seats for North America and Europe.

Initially isofix seats/cars didn't have the top tether. That was added later (recently?).

So essentially they now have the same level of protection as we have had for over a decade

Here is a rundown from the AA site in the UK:

From staying safe on the road to fuel advice and driving abroad, here's everything drivers need to know.

No isofix seat has been approved because they don't allow isofix seats at all. Even the poorest isofix seat will outperform the best Australian seat in a side impact.

The Australian standard for baby/child seats is pathetic, you have 80% of child seats fitted incorrectly and you have no side impact protection.

Isofix even without a top tether is far superior and only 5% of isofix seats are fitted incorrectly, compare that to the ~80% of the Australian standard seats!

Isofix has had the top tether since around 2000 and nearly every car has the "universal" isofix system which is 3 attachment points, a few have vehicle specific ones "semi universal" or "vehicle specific" and this is either a foot that stops the the base from moving forward or a strap over the rear.

Australia should just have 5 door golfs or 3 door Sciroccos... Considering going to NZ to live for a year and putting up with the accent, would almost be worth it .
Um, speak for yourself mate. I'm a VW customer, and I would like a 3 dr Golf. The Scirocco loses too much practicality for me

The more choice the better but two doors is still somewhat impractical so I'd rather a sportier & more unique shape, but yeah everyones requirements are different.

You'll never find a Golf or Scirocco in NZ. They only have Gilfs and Shericcos there!
