I think you misunderstood me again, or more to the point maybe i am ****e at explaining it!! The Passat 125kw sedan starts out at $44,990 before ORC the Superb is $42,990 in the 125kw before ORC. If the Passat now has the leather as standard (As the VW guy tells me) the equvalent Superb (which is the ambition series) would need to be optuoned up with the leather therefore increasing its price to $45,880 before ORC.

A little off topic though so back to what we were discussing. Does anyone know when this wagon will be in OZ. They must know by now?

I would be extremely surprised if a Golf wagon (with the same equipment levels) wasn't more expensive than the equivalent Skoda. If you are looking at discounted prices make sure you are comparing the best deal you can get on both (not discounted price on Golf vs RRP on Skoda).

In the final analysis, buy the one you like driving the most, as that is what you will notice most over the long run.
I checked out Skoda. I couldn't see a wagon but checked out the auto 118kW.

35290 + OR 4500 + Dealer Delivery 1695 (which I thought would be part of OR) + front and rear audio only parking 990 + tint 495... so $43+K with no figures but a promise to negotiate that down.

So roughly the same a as a guestimate for a golf wagon with park assist, visual parking display, cornering fogs. And if I do reverse cameras on both they are pretty much even with the golf corp discount which Skoda wouldn't give me...

Option 7 Sports $2000 (40%). Its pricey and I thing I would prefer it over the Option 5/6 combo since I have the Rear Parking Assist anyway. I like the idea of 17"s, the dark tinting sounds excellent, fogs would be useful on trips and bad weather night driving, seats are said to be very nice, sports suspension could be a bit harder and since the UK market doesn't offer the ACC (which is what I would really like) it might actually deter me from getting it since its a family vehicle.
        Update - Option 7 Sports (60%)

I wanted to follow up. I am thinking after seeing some Golfs that the Sports Package might be a better spend than the audio/park camera.

I was wondering can people tell me

        a) how much firmer a ride is the sports suspension and 17s? (Is it much firmer going over speed bumps in car parks, pot holes)

        b) Are the sports seats really much better than the Comfortline ones?

        c) Is there much difference in the quality / durability of the sports cloth?

        d) How much better is the handling? (Really noticeable?)

I don't know what they have quoted you but $43k seems really high and the ORC seem to be wrong for any state. At this price you could start to look at an Octavia RS wagon with the GTi engine and DSG box 18" wheels, a much better package comapred to the Golf wagon if you are comfortable in this price range. The sensors at the rear are standard and you can option on the front. Either the standard rears or with the option of the front sensors you will get optical park display on your radio screen as well as the audible sound of the sensors.

As for the corporate program you are entitled to it no matter which manufactuerer registers you. The program is identical for Audi, VW and Skoda, if you are eligible for one you will be eligible for all. This would also see the price decrease dramatically and would see you lean heavily towards the Octavia RS i would think

It appears again another potential Skoda owner has been misled by an inpet SKODA sales consultant.

IMO, the corporate programme is designed for people that don't want to haggle. My mate got a better price than the corporate programme; even bettered the price a broker could get it for.

Wakeling Skoda at Campbelltown will talk turkey. Quite likely, if you aren't serious, they will give you RRPs. If you are serious, watch the $ fall off the price.

BTJ, looking forward to you charging that phone. What colour was it and did it have roof rails?

I am hoping roof rails are standard as them seem to be elsewhere. Thanks for the spot. Please post pick.

I had heard they had some of the first due for sale coming in the next 3 weeks. System access allows view of them now apparently.

                          • Thanks. Black roof rails like the white one linked above.
Looks like 17" seattles. I can't tell if that is privacy glass but if it is then a sports package is looking likely.
Stubby roof aerial suggests rns510 if I understand this right.

This config looks identical to the one in the UK brochure.

                            • There's no way that's privacy glass... and if I'm wrong, then VW have no right calling it 'privacy glass', lol

Though I'm sure I'm correct, as there is no difference between the passenger window and the rest of them, whereas privacy glass should be lighter on the passenger (and drivers) window.
