My car is out in the weather, all the time - and whenever I wash it, it comes up like new. VW seem to use a high quality paint - if white is what you want (I have one on order myself), go for it!
I thought the panels on the Beetle made of plastic(Polycarbonate) like the Smarts. It would account for the fact that the colour on your Beetle hasn't changed in that time.

I don't think so... perhaps some, but I don't think all.
There again, I could be wrong. Anyone know?

There isn't a great deal of variety to choose from (there certainly isn't anything particularly exciting), and most of the Golfs I see are either grey or black so it's nice to see a fresh white one for a change.
I chose the red with manual, sports pack, ACC and a beige leather interior. Should look quite pretty.

I'd pick white, but the 911 I want for my next car will probably be white, so I can't have the same colour...

Nice... how long do you have to wait for yours?

I don't mind the red (although I do prefer the tornado red if asked to chose), but I am in the same position as you. Our other car is red and I wanted something different, so I went for the white.

I thought the hard part was deciding which car.... then I thought the hard part was bargaining. The hardest part by far is the wait!!!

You are right - some parts are plastic - the wings and bumpers.

"The body of the New Beetle also features repair-friendly wings and bumpers. Made of plastic and bolted onto the body, parts subjected to "parking" damage can be replaced easily and in a matter of minutes. "

I just ordered mine through Barloworld there...
They did have one in white - but it was a DSG... not sure if it's still there though.
              Yeah.
doesn't matter. we can wait anyway.
              thank you nic

the missus doesn't like the new golf6 red...she likes the previous GTI's red(not sure it's same as the new GTI) which can't be got on normal TSI. so gave up...

I'm not rapt in it either, it's sort of a burnt red....
Tornado red was the previous colour I think.... that was better!

Thanks, I went out and 'tapped' my car.... it was plastic on the outer corners, metal on others.....
but same - metal areas have not faded at all. More than happy with paint job!

Yeah, the red in the standard MK6 cars is Amaryllis Red Metallic. The red on both the MKV and MK6 Golf GTI's is Tornado Red.

So if you're missus only likes Tornado red, then that's justification for the GTI! I mean, it was only available on the GTI last time as well, so go for it!

I went for Tornado red after initially ordering a white one ... I don't know the MK6 just didin't seem to look as good in white as the MK5 did. My prefered the red.

I would've gone for black but having had 4 black cars I know what a total pain they are to look after ... ok if its a company hack, no good if its your own. Just too damn easy to scratch!!

Tornado Red was available on the lower models from MY08 onwards. Pissed off a lot of GTI owners as TR was supposed to be for the GTI.
