  • Question about Fuel & Paint

    Hi guys,
which petrol do you use for your TSI? ULP95? or v power? have you tried put some Vpower in after running out 95? no sure if it's good to the engine when i use mixture of 95 and 98.

another question is that candy white can last as long as the other metallic paint? some guy warns me the white probabaly becomes dull after several years. and i think there's no metallic or pearl finish for white, right?

    Thanks.

ps: searched the forum...seems no relative info...

Whilst VW has confirmed that you can use 95Ron, the cost vs fuel economy difference is negligable and if you want to look after the car, 98 is the way to go.

Candy white is not a pearl/mettalic effect however the fading would probably be the clear coat hazing after UV damage. This should be corrected by a good wash/wax method or detail once every 6 months or so.

I know it's not white, but currently I own a 2006 newbeetle. The paint on this is also a solid colour (Sunflower yellow), and I can tell you that 3.5 years has not changed the paint one bit. My car is out in the weather, all the time - and whenever I wash it, it comes up like new. VW seem to use a high quality paint - if white is what you want (I have one on order myself), go for it!

White costs less, is cooler, apparently has a greater resale value and looks cleaner in most cases.

Black looks great but requires so much more effort.

White looks particularly good with the sports pack.... darker windows etc look good against the white!

When you say your location is "Glen", do you mean Glen Waverley?
I just ordered mine through Barloworld there...
They did have one in white - but it was a DSG... not sure if it's still there though.

Too many white cars. They're so "safe" for resale and all that. But safe is boring!

I would usually agree with you there, but I think a lot of the Golf colours are boring!

There isn't a great deal of variety to choose from (there certainly isn't anything particularly exciting), and most of the Golfs I see are either grey or black so it's nice to see a fresh white one for a change.

The Golf white is a nice one too (as far as whites go - and strange as it may sound, they do differ depending on the brand of car). They look really nice with the tinted windows particularly!

I did toss up between black and white.... I liked them equally, but white won out in the end, and purely out of preference - not safeness.

This is very true! I hope VW address that sometime soon
