    haha,

I got a Toyota Corolla Levin SX as my 1st car back in April 2008.

And I thought that since im getting off my P's, I should get the GTI.

So it will be my 2nd car.

But nether of these cars my parents paid a cent for.

    • Yeh, you won't be able to test drive it whilst you're still on your P's. My salesguy though I was still on my P's (which I'm not) when I asked for a test drive and then mentioned that P's aren't allowed to take it out...

Then again, I assume it all depends on what salesguy you get....

      • Does anyone here know when the MY2011 models will start coming out in Australia?

        • Mate we don't know anything about MY2011.

afaik, there were not changes for MY2010 were there?

Usually after July they build the MY20xx updates.

Yeah - there is no point waiting for an MY11 model unless there is going to be some specification changes for it. When it comes to resale, the 'MYxx' has no influence on price unless there is something significantly different about that new model (different engine revision, or RNS-510 vs the old crappy DVD nav etc). What's important is the build date. That is what dealers etc will use as the basis for valuating a car.

            • The wait is long enough as it is, screw waiting till 2011.

There are those rumors of push button start going around for 2011 models, but that's purely speculation, and hardly worth waiting till 2011. Also, the LED tail lights were being talked about, but as they are being offered as a factory fitted option or accessory this is also unlikely.

              • Whats the big deal about a starter button? Didnt we get rid of that crap 60 years ago?

I like the Toyota un-intended acceleration issue in the USA. Apparently you need to press the START/STOP button for 3 seconds to stop the engine while in motion. HArdly intuitive when with a key you can just turn it to shut the engine off.

                • I noticed the R has a start button on one of the pics.. not sure if AUS will get it or not.

                    • It's in the USA... so I wouldn't say that it's cheap. Car prices are vastly different there. And they're also in bad financial times where many people can't get loans...

                      • Best not to look at prices of cars in the USA, it's depressing. GTIs over there are around mid 20s brand new. Without getting too off topic though, I'm not sure what the average wage is in the USA and if that off sets the cheap car prices at all. I doubt it, it's mainly due to the much larger population/market to sell to and our high taxes here certainly don't help our cause.

                        • To be fair. Most hot hatches are priced all in the same catagory:

                          golf gti
                          civic type r
                          ford xr5
                          Mazda 3 mps
                          lancer ralliart
                          Subaru wrx

they all start around the $40,000 mark and work their way up to their more powerful siblings the evo, sti, r etc etc.
