Hi people
New here, and hoping I can get some guidance.
I've never had anything to do with Golf's before, so please forgive the simplicity of the questions.
My daughter is looking at a new MY10 118TSI or 103TDI (not really fussed either way), in Auto. Presumable the petrol will be cheaper than the diesel. It's her first "good car", and thus doesn't want options that will push the price up.
What's a reasonable OTR price for each, after all the argie-bargie is over. In NSW.
Thanks for your help

You should do a search, most of these questions have been addressed in-depth before.

Golf 118TSI vs. 103TDI
If she doesn't want too many options, I'd say just add the MDI (allows you to control most media devices via the stock head unit) and possibly Park Assist or just the rear parking sensors in the 118TSI.

If she is buying an auto because she does lots of stop start driving in heavy traffic then she (or you) should do some research about DPFs and their problems in that sort of driving (short version of advice - "buy a petrol, not a TDI with a DPF").2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

Test drive both & see which one you prefer.
If your looking for a good deal I can highly recommend Phillip from Gerald Slaven in Canberra. He is also a member on this forum:

As i've mentioned in other threads, i've taken delivery of my 2010 GTI finally...
After a week with the car I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. Ill be sure to get some pics up once this damn rain clears.
Seeing as this thread circulated around pricing and so forth, I just wanted to add something which happened when I took delivery.
Essentially we waited 5 months for a car which was promised in 2 or 3 at worst. Seeing as we knew of the massive shortage, we were not too upset by this.
However on the day of delivery, they really didnt have thier **** together and the 30-40 minute delivery process took almost 4 hours.
Ultimately I communicated with the powers that be after complaining and as a result of these issues, I now have my servicing up to and including 45,000 KM free.
It might not seem like a big deal but its about $1400 worth based on standard servicing pricing according to the service dept (with whom I inquired).
For us it means not having to worry about these costs popping up in the next 2-3 years (we do 14-16 thousand clicks a year). A small gesture with a positive effect.Last edited by elisiX; 26-05-2010, 01:39 PM.2019 BMW M3 CS
