Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 14K kms.... Meaning approx 14 thousand

Who said it was a single 40km trip? I dont think i said that anywhere? That photo was taken after about 10 minutes driving. I had travelled roughly 33km the day before.

Plz learn to read before putting words in my mouth

    • another fillup today, 583km travelled, put in 50.23l@ 145.9c =$73.28.
thats about 8.6l/100km, which is what ive been getting the past half dozen fillups. i drive in sydney traffic everyday, and dont get the urge or opportunity to razz the car much at all.
      oh, it showed 25km remaining

        • ive found the "consumption" reading to be pretty inaccurate. by at least 1l/100km, i just calculate it manually every fillup

          • you can tweak it with vcds. I got mine right on the money. VCDS even gives you an equation to work out how much to adjust it.

            • Golf R - DSG
3200km on the clock and MFD shows an average of 12.0/100m.
If I hadnt been to the Island last week it would be closer to 14/100km. Very little freeway stuff.

didnt think it was necessary with the picture showing 14383kms and my initial post saying "14K odd kms worth of driving"...thought it was obvious enough? But duly noted

                • I corrected my MFD by fitting bigger wheels on
I know mine isn't a mk6 but it's quite close... my Caddy doesn't match factory claimed 5.9L/100km. It's now at 6.3L/100km long term and coming down.
I think my driving is OK, because my previous Caddy, claimed was 6.2L/100km and with the same size wheels I was averaging 5.3L/100km
Coming up to first service, I expect to see a big improvement!

                  • On its third tank of 98 octane, my ED35 is averaging 320kms/tank! Admittedly it is all inner Sydney stop/ start driving with some spirited efforts occasionally but generally trying to keep it under 4000rpm. A big difference to my MKV GTI but I guess KO4 = higher consumption and more than happy to accept it as part of an amazing car but still hoping it improves!

                    • Man, those numbers r woeful. My gti has now done a touch over 9k km, routinely getting 600+ km or low to mid 8l/100 km.
All sydney traffic peak hr, thru chatswood and military rd.
                      I must be light footed

I get around (if you believe the MFD) 570-590km a tank, that is mainly city driving. I have a light foot 95% of the time.

                              • Apr stg2 with man. I rarely gun it to redline if ever. Usually hit 300-340km when it gets to half tank, that usually gives me a good idea if I'm being conservative, but 600 is pretty much the norm for me now
