      • Got 6.1L/100km in the GTI. That was with the A/C on and 31 degrees on a return journey from the Coast. Based on the MFD, my range was 850-860km.

Pretty awesome - I think that APR tune does make a difference.

You won't get anything like that tomorrow

          Are you on Guy's payroll?

hahahahaha i should be! He should give me the APR exhaust now with the amount of free plugs given! I took a picture just to prove it too on the blackberry ( quality not the best though...) I think it is better now after a few thousand clicks on the clock, engine should be pretty loose, especially after the oil/filter change

            • Well after 6 months and 15000km's my little 77TSI is now averaging about 5.4l/100kms 80% highway driving and I think that's about as good as it gets. I must say it's nice to get close to 900kms on a tank of petrol...

As an experiment I did 1 tank running at what I thought was optimal fuel efficiency speed of 100kms/hr on the highway and managed to get 5.2l/100kms but I hated being 10km/hr under the speed limit and gave up after 600kms... I felt like a grandpa...

Interesting to see the 118TSI does 5.5 with highway travel.

Especially as 100 on the speedo is more likely to be around 92-3 km/hr.

                • Whats the best cruising speed for the 118 TSI? the trip computer claims consumption at around 5.8L/100km when I'm doing about 90km/hr but never have the patience to hold it at that speed for long. Plus its probably not safe on the motorway

                  • i ought to try doin a tank without cruise control i use it 99% of time (even 60k zone lol) but i get 8/850 till light comes on with cruise, but best economy is usually by foot lol. just too lazy i think. im going to mackay in march so will see how it goes (bout 1000ks)

                      Is your Golf DSG??

I've never hit 800.. All my driving thus far has been city and the best I've got from a full tank was about 780 (light on, 0km range lol)..

I'd love to see the range from a full tank on the highway.. If I can even get close to 1000 I'd be over the moon!

If I'm on a call, I'll often drop into the slow lane & sit on 80-90kmh. It's no drama & nobody seems overly upset - it's the slow lane after-all........ If someone tried it in the fast lane I'd go burko.

                          • Averaged 5.8 l/100km going from sydney to port macquarie and back... Predominently freeway driving with aircon on all the time. I drove speedo indicating 118km/hr (which is 111km/hr on GPS)
