    Me too.
    Our 2009 TSI has had:
    New engine
    Clutch
    Alternator Battery
    ECU

And is now back there again, with the no accerating issue. At least this time we were over 100km away when it failed, so we get a car and accomodation!

    • Makes me feel lucky that so far I only need to replace the water pump (for the second time) and also booked in for the clutch pack.... but there is this weird ticking/clicking that is hell loud when I put my foot down on the fwy :/

      • I thought I should add to the thread with some positive news, if not a solution. My car doesn't have the squeak.
I only bought it a while back and haven't found any problems yet apart from a few rattles that will be going on my list. Hopefully it's not just a matter of time before it starts, but the car has 30k on the clock and I can't find any service logs that hint towards a repair.
At the end of the day I'm really keen to find any faults before the warranty runs out.

Can anyone tell me if I should be looking for a sticker or something to show that the parts have been replaced?

        • All I got was a invoice saying what parts had been used to replace the waterpump.. Its not a recall so no sticker as far as I know.

          • I've got an MK6 Jetta with a 1.4L 118TSI engine. Started hearing this squeal sound at around 6500kms. Booked in for a warranty repair in April (earliest Barloworld could accomodate me).

How come some people were getting just water pumps replaced and others with clutches? Are these 2 separate problems or what?

            • I'm no expert by any means... There are two issues - one is a shudder from the DSG - fix is a replacement clutch pack.
The squeak issue is something to do with thewater pump rubbing on the super charger (I think!! correct me everyone).. so replacing the waterpump seems to have helped most people (squeak comes back though).. there is meant to be a revised super charger clutch (using different materials) coming eventually to solve the squeak - this is meant to be the REAL fix.

                Ok thanks.

Actually I've got a friend who works for VAG Australia (the actual company, not a dealership) and got in touch with him literally a few mins ago about this. He says VAG is well aware of the problem and that the new pump released very recently is a redesigned one and not, as someone else put it, a "like for like" replacement of the old. He assured me that the new pump I'm getting in April is a redesigned one

On a side note, cannot reveal his identity or which department he works for as he told me that VAG employees do regularly crawl this forum for various reasons.

Oh and he said... "it's the clutch to engage the supercharger which is on the waterpump"

So it is just a replacement waterpump that they are intending to fix it with?

Don't know exactly what they're replacing but I'm expecting a waterpump (with the supercharger clutch inside?)...

                    • Can someone who has experienced this issue tell me if the noise also presents as a rattle? I'm pretty sure it's my pump/clutch as the noise appears when I accelerate from low speed and then again when I brake (decelerate). There's a faint squeal as well. Cheers.

                      • I have been told that there is now a 'real' fix for the waterpump squeal... another version of the waterpump I believe (something to do with different materials).
Seeing my squeal came back after having one waterpump replaced I'm booking into to have it done again - fingers crossed the long wait has been because they have finally solved the problem!

                        • I was just told that my waterpump needs replacing. Great I thought because I got a new one after the car was a year old and there should be still waranty on the repair.

Well, after some searching in their records I am now told that the waterpump was not replaced but only a hose which was leaking. I call that BS as the squeeling sound went away after the waterpump got "replaced" two years ago.

Anyway does anyone have a partnumber of the waterpump as I think there where a lot of them replaced in the early year models due to the squeeling.

                          Thanks,
                          regu

                          • The thing is you shouldn't have a squealing waterpump on a 90TSI DSG as your car does not have a supercharger. The effected cars were the twinchargers (118TSI) which have a a solenoid, clutch and pulley integrated with the waterpump to drive the supercharger. The friction material in the clutch was causing the squeal on some cars. Those bits are not on the 90TSI so it should not squeal from there.

Wonder if your latest replacement fixed the squeal. Had mine replaced early this year and haven't heard the squeal come back.

                              • I stand corrected. The waterpump was not replaced 18 month agon but a leaking hose. I did have a squeeling sound before and the hose replacement fixed it.

This time around I got the waterpump replaced under good will warranty as my factory warranty ran out in Feb this year. The car is running fine and I am back to liking it again in our "love-hate-relationship".
