Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I actually thought the one I saw was a MkV with a bodykit at first...

I don't think that the Golf has ever been a stand out "look at me" type car. But I think it's understated looks are part of its appeal. I'm really impressed with the Golf 6. It's so nice in the flesh.

How many have you seen on the road? I've seen only 2 (one red, one black) and they have been on sale for about a month.

I suppose the economic downturn means it is not a good time to launch a new model...

I saw a black TSI in Fairfield today and I was really impressed, a considerable improvement over the V in the standard guise.

                  I want one

... and it appears to have proper reversing lights!

got a mk6 2.0 TDI loan car...and have to say i was impartial on the mk6 when very first pics came out. over the past 3 months leading up to the release, i have come to dig it.

now that i have driven the TDI , i am well and truly impressed. no doubt part of the reason why it won world car of the year...

interior is awesome...dash especially with clear white display. the most impressive feature is the road noise...lack thereof. the damn car is quieter than my mkv GTI...and keep in mind this is a diesel! goes to show that the extra 10mm and special film on glass has made a noticable difference.

then there's the torque. once rolling...this things pulls extremely well.

car shows only 562km on clock...and averaged 6.2L/km...keep in mind that's mostly inner city, and no doubt with people giving it a bit of juice.

only quarm is steering feel. they have gone a little too A4 B7 for my liking ...steering feels a little too light for my liking, but something that i would be prepared to get used to over time.

now we just have to sit and wait for the GTI/R20...

Finally saw a silver one, and it was unmistakably a Golf from the front, but those 4x4 tail lights.... so very generic....

Keep in mind that as this wasn't the GTI that the steering would be lighter than what you're used to anyway. I'm sure when you have a drive of the MK6 GTI that the steering will be suitably heavier

Had a closer look over a mk6 today.

I am muchly jealous. Much nicer than the mk5!
