  • Brakes Need replacing

Calling out the brain trust in regards to front brakes shuddering
Either replace the pads or rotors or both
My question is Pagid pads ( or other )enough while the rotors dont need replacing ?

    cheers

Usually shuddering is caused by warped rotors, sometimes caused by spirited driving. Maybe they can be skimmed but that will lead to the same thing occuring again.

Replace pads and rotors as a set on VWs.

Check this set, they should be the same as yours Brembo Front brake combo ( rotor + pads) for VW Golf R MK7 and Audi S3 8V | eBay

Shuddering is likely to be the disks (rotors) are warped, but could also be caliper sliding pins are sticking and need cleaning & greasing and the caliper is not applying pressure evenly to the disk surface. Definitely replace the disks and at the very least inspect the pads - if the pads are not wearing evenly then replace them also. And remove the caliper slider pins, clean then, and regrease them with appropriate brake grease so the caliper moves smoothly.

I would normally recommend the Brembo disks (and pads) as I really like them, but for some reason the Brembo disks for the Mk6 R are about $150 more than all the other brands.

Note: Although you have probably never heard of Zimmermann, they make the original factory disks for VW/Audi etc.

Just note that this link is for brakes for a Mk7 R, which will not fit a Mk6 R.

Oops, never assume...... Seems mad that they changed from 345mm to 340mm - saving $0.03 per rotor?

Rolan has them for $250 per pair, or in another listing $122.36 each.

Thats a much more realistic price - I suspect they have made a mistake on the Automotive Superstore link above as the price is way off.

Clickable Automotive are ok. They only sell a small range of items, but they are a legit business and I have personally used them before.
