another probably cheaper option would be to buy a second hand door from a wrecker. hunt around for a nice straight one and that way you know that its all factory paint and a similar age.

This is not as silly an idea as it sounds.

Is it claimable as not an acceptable repair if you can find out who did the original job.
The big insurers give a lifetime guarantee I seem to recall.

I like your thinking, however I am going to find that very difficult given the previous owner had the car for around 4-5 years and was unaware it had been repaired.
