Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi All,

I've seen this 'issue' on many forums but have not yet found the right answer... Now that police are cracking down on drivers using their phones while driving, I need something to overcome this. I have a Galaxy s8 which works perfect with an AUX cord and bluetooth, however, I do not see any track names/artist info on my head unit nor am I able to skip songs without physically doing it on my phone. I have updated the firmware (on the car) and tried a few different devices but still no luck. Are there any solutions to fixing this issue?
    Thanks!
    Daniel

Get an SD Card for music as an idea and insert into unit.

      Hey Daniel,

I used to have the RCD510 in my Mk6 golf with a desk dock double sided taped to the blank buttons in front of the gear stick. The RCD510 with Bosch bluetooth module displayed track names and phone info on the display.

However... That's when i learned about the RCD330+ and it changed everything hahah.

      This is what you need:
Android Auto CarPlay MirrorLink Noname RCD330 Plus R340G 6.5MIB Radio For Golf 5 6 Jetta CC Tiguan Passat Polo Toureg 6RD035187B-in Head-up Display from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

A 1.2m cable can be run from the head unit to the centre armrest console, glove box etc under the interior panels. You can then control everything from apps to calls and messages from the head unit touchscreen. No need to touch your phone and no cop can ever give you sh$t about it.

For more info head to this thread: Replacing RNS 510 with RCD 330+
