Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

...and just to add to it, if we really wanted to be accurate.
the speedo isn't entirely accurate. when you hit 100kmph on your speedo...the real speed is something like 96-97kmph. you can check this by programming your a/c in to switch on the digital speedo on your a/c temp screen...plus you can also double check this while using a GPS navigator which has a speedo programmed in it.mk2 GTI 16v

I followed (chased) him for a whole cruise once and he never pulled away. Except when I couldn't see through the smoke.
He told me 138kw and 400Nm.
Mind you we all know what happened to his car...

Ok - so you access the climatronic to get at the background service data.
To access that you press the ECON and the top right air direction button (next to recirc) simultaneously. To get back to temperature control press AUTO and ECON simultaneously.
This then brings up the menu shown in your pic
Then it's a case of drilling through the dataset until you find the area that adjusts the distance impulse number?2008 GT Sport | 2.0TDi | Anthracite Leather | Sat nav | Bluetooth | Candy White

The adjustment must be done with a vagcom/vcds cable and software as per that screenshot, that is where you adjust the "offset".
In that thread I have posted the TSB but I'm not sure if the Australia dealers will perform the work, if not you need to find someone with a Vagcom and get them to adjust it.
I would recommend checking the speeds beforehand via the climatronic or vcds, a handheld GPS and the speedometer and logging this data. Then get the change made and then test again. Remember that if your offset is different to mine then you need to choose a lower offset to compensate for this.website: www.my-gti.com

BTW have you ever thought of drilling a hole in your muffler? I hear it gives you at least an extra 5 - 10kw and a lovely sound(joke btw!)
