Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

i know the obvious solution here is to just have fun and thrash it because lets face it, its soooo much fun but obviously this is not normal behaviour. You shouldn't have to thrash something to make it work properly.
I could give that a go, will that smoothen out the reversing too? So I'll need to thrash it in R right? Does Turbo kick in then? lol

Yeh its not being a prick in reverse anymore.

And no dont thrash it in reverse.

But for your information, yes it does boost in reverse.

Sorry this is lengthy but if it helps someone...

Well, where to start... I've done 114,000km on my dsg and it has to be not quite thrashed but lets say "used" in driving (not hard with a diesel though).

Reverse is very laggy but if you knock it into N before you stop, then when stopped chuck it into R, the change is a bit quicker... The clicking noise that aDg3 mentions occurs when my rear wiper being activated, so see if thats your issue

The gearbox when used around town, especially the city loves to slur the change into second, losing all the crispness it usually has, but gains the crisp gearchanges again when out in the suburbs or on the highway

Again, whilst around town, i.e. city, when coming to a stop every now and then, the clutch/s, usually when in second gear love to do what I call "binding", i.e. the clutch won't let go, and i've got to try to overcome the engine with even more brakes before I can stop...

and lastly the air con when its on, makes the gearbox hang on to gears more than it should, but this smoothes out after some driving...

so yeah, the gearbox has it's faults, but it's better than a slushbox (hired corollas are awful)

Nice. I will try it though, prob by putting it into S and driving locally.
I seriously hope it does, forgot to try the hardbrake technique and see how the car reacts.

So when works good for you? That or we just organise a SEQ my dsg sucks cruise.
Either way i've just gone nuts on the stereo, so the vibration from that should mask the problem!
Ill let you know, i should have a free sunday coming up in the next couple of weeks if thats OK?

            Will PM soon.

              Yeah, should be good.

Just make sure your leather is dirty, so I don't feel so bad for not getting it
