... well its actually 4 weeks away as its currently sitting in QLD.

its been a pretty busy few days starting from when i went into the dealer on Tuesday armed with my case. i first spoke to the my service rep who i always deal with.. then i spoke to the parts manager and then the service manager. after getting them on my side and the full set of service records to go with the list i made up i presented my case to the dealer manager.
he was very understanding and ended up doing the right thing by me and after a bit of backwards and forwards i ended up with almost the exact price i wanted for a change over. i am very very happy with the end result.

credit must be given to the excellent salesman and the dealer manager who understood my situation and worked very hard to do the right thing by me. and everyone here on the forum who gave me some great tips and advice.

i hope to god my new CW GTI is the car i wish i had from the start

Excellent result. You obviously didn't go in there screaming and ranting, but armed with a solid case and a reasonable but hard expectation for rectifying the problem. Well done.

Awesome outcome - congrats on the new car and getting rid of the lemon

Pays off being assertive but polite, who would have thought that it would end on a positive note

        Well done!

hey every one. yeh im still bloody stoked!

as most have already said i didnt kick up a big sh*t storm. i was polite yet firm with my deal and i did all my homework and prepared a very solid case. i didnt push for something too unreasonable either.

i dont really want to disclose my final change over price but i will tell you that if you factor in the depreciation of my car over its 18months i essentially got the new car for free (well just under).

cant wait till it arrives. first order of business will be a colour code, another german badge on the grill and all the mods i took of my current car

as for my car.. look out for a MY07 BMP 5 door GTI with beige leather, rear sill plate, uprated slotted brake package and a german badge on the grill!!

That's great news Mark! Sounds like an excellent outcome. I've only just caught up on this post after reading a bit from the beginning. Just out of curiosity, did you go through VWOP or JH?

Great news re: getting a new car. I'm happy enough to get a new glass of wine at a restaurant when the first I order is faulty... I can't imagine how relieved you are!

I just hope that your dealer and the various pieces of VW that brought the car to you don't simply sell the car or destroy it, but take it away and examine it and find out what went wrong when it was built, and WHY it happened, and ensure it doesn't happen again...

i got if from my dealer VW Ossie Park.
even although i wasnt too sure about them at the start and when i was having those continous issues i am actually really impressed with how well they pulled through for me. they really understood my situation and the salesman i was dealing with, Marcello worked extremely hard to make sure i got the best deal i could

I'm intrigued, not being a wine drinker, what constitutes a wine fault? Glass of grapes?

There's all sorts of things... the most common are oxidation (usually caused by leaving the bottle open for too long) and TCA, or cork taint... caused by corks.

Then there's all the fun stuff like brettanomyces, sulphur problems, heat and light effect, and all the other microbiological faults.

I guess that's why I just stick with beer. Sounds too complicated for me!

Now we need a "Dont buy the car if its got this VIN number" thread.

The trick is (much the same as beer) to drink the whole bottle
