I'd be seriously pissed with a list that long. Best of luck with getting it resolved.

I'd agree with that statement. I've got a 3dr manual with tartan trim and have not had a single issue in just over a year. I bought it from the same dealer too. (Ossie Park)

3 doors GTI's are built in germany if my memory serves me correct, there for, they truely are a real GTI!

Perhaps it also says something about the brazilian and Seth efricken built cars..??

Just to give you all an idea & from what I've seen so far,

Some of those item's on that list are common fault's & failures regardless of if it was built in the home land, Brazil or Sth Africa.

Also in saying that before everyone jumps down my throat (I'm not bagging the car's by any mean's. I love just about all VW's), all manufacturer's & model's have problem's & all car's have achilles heel's, whether that be one problem or ten problem's.

BMW & Mercede's have just as many problem's.

Yep every marque has a Friday afternoon car, unfortunately i think you got it!. Seriously though with the concerns you have they should give you the extended warranty for nix as a bare minimum.

                Good Luck

well i talked to VW Customer Assist just then. basically i was told they wont do jack. as long as all of the problems have been rectified in the end then nothing is wrong.

the person i spoke to offered i could purchase an extended warranty though VW (big bloody woop)

i said to her that wont fix anything as its been all the time i have spent that should of been spent on my work and studies, that is my issue here. she said 'yes sir i can really see why you would be frustrated but when you bought the vehicle that was something that you had to accept with it'

i said to her, 'well dont you think that my list of issues is quite extraordinary especially considering the age of the car' her reply was a rather stuttered one 'well err actually umm yes you have had a number of issues, some major and some pretty small but they all got resolved in the end'

this conversation just went nowhere and it seems they dont really give a s**t.

this is exactly what i expected if i called them up. i know that when i write them a letter with the service records attached i will get a similar response just with slightly better wording.

words cannot describe the frustration i am feeling right now!

The trouble is you don't have any real leverage with VWA.

If you happened to be the lease manager of an organisation that currently ran a very large fleet of VWs with the power to choose VWs or a different brand I bet they would be a bit more helpful.

Unless there is some way you can make a significant impact on their sales Australia wide or apply serious pressure in some other way (eg have a very good chance of getting a big $$$ judgement against them in court) then they will continue to fob you off.

I'm not saying this is right or moral or ethical, but that is how it is with most large businesses.

I've had a number of problems with my van (not as many as you thank goodness, and nearly all fixed up by warranty), and if there were another van available as good as the transporter it would probably be gone by now.

I asked VW what happens if I get a lemon. They said thats what the warrenty is for...

Either way, I have found sometimes with constant issues like this always go straight to the manager/owner (owner if you can), phone, writting and in front of them at the worst times. IE saturday...

What REALLY annoys me with these things is its for most of us a minium $40k. Its a LOT of money no matter which way you look at it, and many of us have to make sacrifices in other areas of our spending to make the choice. Yet everything is our problem.

PS, I want to work in VWs service department. 8-4 hours sound damn fine to me!

I have been following your post with interest. There would be nothing worse than having a lemon. My father in 1948 bought a new Chev ute that burnt oil had no power. When they pulled the motor down it had no piston rings, you can see how that would happen someone too slow on an assembly line.
But today with our technology there should be no difference between any of the finished cars.
Say, the turbo why did that fail? What reason did they give you?
I would ask the service manager why did all these faults happen.
I don't think they will replace your car but I would contact Chanel Seven they are always asking for stories for their program Today Tonight. Good luck

                          UPDATE!!

a brand new MY08 CW 5 door DSG GTI with leather, tint, park sensors and ipod cable is now mine!!

... well its actually 4 weeks away as its currently sitting in QLD.

its been a pretty busy few days starting from when i went into the dealer on Tuesday armed with my case. i first spoke to the my service rep who i always deal with.. then i spoke to the parts manager and then the service manager. after getting them on my side and the full set of service records to go with the list i made up i presented my case to the dealer manager.
he was very understanding and ended up doing the right thing by me and after a bit of backwards and forwards i ended up with almost the exact price i wanted for a change over. i am very very happy with the end result.

credit must be given to the excellent salesman and the dealer manager who understood my situation and worked very hard to do the right thing by me. and everyone here on the forum who gave me some great tips and advice.

i hope to god my new CW GTI is the car i wish i had from the start

That sounds great man, I'm really glad for you! I bet there's nothing better than to hear the word "yes" after a while, and getting what you wanted.

I'm keen to know what it cost you for the adjustment, but if you'd rather not mention then no problems.

                            Congrats!

Good to hear they looked after you in the end. I guess you needed to confront them face to face to get a favorable outcome for yourself.

What you have gone through is my worst nightmare. I dont want some grease monkeys taking my whole car apart and putting it back together.

I have some experience with service mechanics having done the first year of a automotive apprenticeship and I know first hand how dumb some of those guys can be.
