Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Oil leak (pics attached)

I had my MKV GTI serviced about 1200kms ago, and ever since then I've noticed a puddle of oil in my car park at home. The service included an oil change, plus DSG service. I have been checking the engine oil level regularly and it doesn't appear to dropping, but I do very few kms (the last time I drove the car was 5 weeks ago).

I really hope it's not the DSG leaking. Can anyone give an indication from the photos on where it might be coming from? The photo was taken near the passenger side front wheel, which appears to be the area of the leak.

Possible that the DSG filter is leaking, or that they've made a mess replacing it.

Appears to be gearbox case not sump. Sorry!!
Take it back for them to examine or get the car up on stands properly.
