  • Latte or Anthracite?

Having trouble deciding what colour leather I should get. Due to not seeing the latte in person it's hard to decide whether latte is the way to go. Pictures I have seen re: the latte differ so I am unsure exactly what it will look like. I need to decide fairly soon, within the next couple of days or so.

Not so convinced about the black yet as it just looks too gloomy. I don't want to get the black and then regret my decision and vice versa.

Anyone have some pics of their latte interior would be much appreciated.
I should just get cloth so the leather decision making isn't an option.

There's some pics over at the golfmkv forum:

I am thinking of getting a black R32 and I really don't like the plain grey interior. I would like black or even better, a nice tan / brown colour. Unfortunately, the only colours that you can get for the R32 are the standard mono-tone grey and a new colour called latte. Anyone seen that...

BTW, I would have gone for the latte leather, but it got bumped for DSG & a sunroof. Oh well.

Thanks for the link. It was really helpful. I am thinking Tornado Red with Latte interior? Not sure how this would go. Should look okay maybe but might look a bit strange. If i got a black GTI it would match perfectly but I'm not.

Doesn't the latte interior have grey parts to the car so it makes it almost an 'after-market" look as the interior doesn't blend in very well.

You will find some pics of my latte leather in my jetta here (last thread)

I have also seen a spice red jetta with latte leather and it looked good. Personally i think the latte looks a bit more 'fancy' but its also more work to keep clean. I would buy latte again though, as i agree with your original quote that black is borting and gloomy. i went black mats instead of beige to make the interior lok more co-ordinated too imo

Thanks for the link. Saw a BM today with beige like coloured interior. Had a quick squizz and already saw black grubby marks on the seat.

I agree - red and latte would look pretty good. Especially as I believe they use black mats now with latte, whereas with beige they used beige mats (suicide, really!) if my memory serves me correctly.

One of the things that led me to choose DSG & 'roof at the time was that latte was to be the new optional shade of leather, but unhappily no-one could tell me whether latte would be lighter or darker than beige. So rather than take a punt and be disappointed, I opted for the other two options. As it turns out I would've been happy with it, but at the time didn't want to take the risk. Oh well...

My vote's for Candy White with Anthracite. Looked amazing a demo in the dealership.

A mate has got Lemon (not the same i know, but still light) in his 130i and he has a blue hue from his jeans. Must be from the sweat, but you can see it pretty clearly. Would drive me nuts!!!

Anyone with beige/latte leather will tell you that you need to take care of it. its the price you pay unfortunately for it looking so good

I find if by keeping some leather wipes in the glovebox you can keep your leather looking schmick. As soon as i notice anything give it a quick wipe and they look good as new.

In the end though it comes down to what you prefer....if you look at it and love it, then thats the choice. Dont second guess yourself.

                  good luck hey.

Oh dear. Okay, okay...think I am swaying more and more towards the Anthracite. I think you all have me convinced. If I see a VW with Latte I will turn a blind eye.

Initially I wanted candy white but now convinced of tornado red. I have seen them both side-by-side and the red looks better even though I think the white looks pretty damn swish!

if it was an option i would of opted for that brown leather like in the scirocco
that colour looks hot and it goes really well with white and black. plus it wouldnt show up the dirt like beige and it wouldnt feel dark and enclosed like the anthracite.

I understand your dilemma as I went through the same, although my story is a bit different - i ordered Latte and ended up with Anthracite

My thoughts were that a mix of light interior on a black car is good and I stick by that BUT much as it kills me to say this after 5 months of use the anthracite is by far the better choice for keeping clean.

I own another vehicle with beige leather and it takes some looking after, whereas with the anthracite all you need is a quick wipe with some leather wipes.

I have the latte leather with the "United Grey Metallic" on my GTI and it looks pretty good to me. Not had any issues with marks or anything showing up on it. Guess it comes down to what suits the colour of your car......

I've got the latte in my DPB R32. We've had it for 9 months and 12,000 kms now, and I'm very happy with the choice. It isn't at all difficult to keep clean, and gives the car a nice 'light' feel.

Unfortunately, grey and anthracite just remind me too much of standard Japanese dull interiors.
