It's yours once you sign the order - long before you get it.Originally posted by phaeton View PostNo.1 on a sunny day
I suggest Test Driving the car before signing everything over (I read this in the Lemon Book by Ralph Nader
).
Remember its not yours till you sign the dotted line

Depends on what is wrong with it - goods are supposed to be of merchantable quality.
Certainly you have way more leverage (and the dealer will be a lot more accommodating) before you hand over your $$$ and formally take delivery.
I took mine for a spin around the block before handing over my cheque and signing for it, and the salesman was quite happy to let me do it (mind you I'd been waiting for 4 1/2 months).2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

let me guess... ccc?Originally posted by BigMan View PostJust got a call from VW saying my car will not be ready today
due to a broken seat belt on passenger side!
what a load of cr@p!!
because of that is it illegal to release the car!
It has been so hard to get this car i'm starting to think either i'm jinx or it not suppose to be for me.
i'm very close to cancel the whole deal now unless someone can suggest something else.

I gotta double check this but i think the answer it isn't illegal, provided no one sits in that spot (where the seat belt is faulty)....Originally posted by BigMan View PostJust got a call from VW saying my car will not be ready today

Under the ARR you can only carry the amount of passengers your licence stipulates and how many functioning seat belts are in the car. Then in another section it also states that each passenger must have a functioning seat belt.sigpic

I work in the paint industry and my advice would be to resist the temptation to wash your car for two weeks and not wax for 1 month. This is because regardless of what the dealer tells you the paint has not fully cured yet and you could mark the car. It can take 6 months for automotive paint to fully harden. Wax new paint, polish old paint(5yrs old)

Have you taken into consideration that the car has probably spent 3 months travelling to Australia? Is that ontop of this journey?Originally posted by dimsim View PostI work in the paint industry and my advice would be to resist the temptation to wash your car for two weeks and not wax for 1 month. What about when they wash them at the dealership after they have been on the ship then sat in a waiting yard collecting dust before and after transit from the manufacturer? I'm just curious, would this be the same after you have a car repaired too even though it has been in a baking booth?Originally posted by dimsim View PostI work in the paint industry and my advice would be to resist the temptation to wash your car for two weeks and not wax for 1 month.
