Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Mischa - there are a lot of clowns on these forums that dont read
I am glad you are going the OEM route as thats what i would like to do with my Jetta.
In asking your question when i had my Audi A3 i wanted to install xenons and bought a set of OEM xenon lights from Germany.
Everything was plug and play except for 2 things:
You must up rate the headlight fuse as xenon ballasts require more voltage to fire up
You must flip the reflector as in Germany the cars are LHD and you will blind on coming traffic so i made mine RHD.
As for washing and self levelling they are not part of the law so ignore the BS. I had my oem xenons installed and had no problems with police or blinding on coming drivers.
Im interested in buying a set of OEM xenon lights for my Jetta as well so we can buy together and split the costs.
if you have any further questions PM me2009 Volkswagen R36 Wagon

My Skoda has projector lamps with halogens & even has a mounting point for the ballasts inside the back of the lamps. I would like to upgrade them to Xenon, but had been holding back due to the washer / levelling issue.

5.3. For vehicles fitted with filament headlamps, the requirements of the
following paragraphs in Appendix A are not applicable:
6.2.6.1 (vertical orientation for dipped beam);
6.2.6.2 (Headlamp levelling) and
6.2.6.3 (Measuring procedure).
This is the normal lighting system in most cars...
6.2.6.2. Headlamp levelling device
6.2.6.2.1. In the case where a headlamp levelling device is necessary to satisfy the requirements of paragraphs 6.2.6.1.1. and 6.2.6.1.2., the device shall be automatic.
And this is what would seem to apply to gas discharge lighting systems. It's all legalese, but it doesn't look like the requirement is BS to me.MY08 R32, DSG, Sunroof, RNS510

No, it says that if it is anything other than a normal filament light, then it must have auto leveling. Which translates as bi-xenons require auto leveling.2x Caddy, 1x Ducato

I did a google search, looking for the ADRs. The page I found it on was titled 'Australian Design Rule 13/00 Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles'.
I didn't keep the reference, but it was directly from the government site. I'm sure you'll find it....MY08 R32, DSG, Sunroof, RNS510

OEM xenons have 6.2.6.1 (vertical orientation for dipped beam); its manually adjusted it does not state that it must be self levelling.

Xenon lights are referred to as gas discharge lights.
