I've always though of heated seats etc to be mainly for the European market, just like winter driving mode etc. I mean, even in some of the coldest parts of Australia, you probably only need heated seats for about 3 months of the year... I personally like the cloth, and $3k extra for leather is a bit much
I've never been a fan of leather seats in a car.... untill I owned one - fantastic, boss loves the heater (even in Qld), our little 1yr girl spewed all over the rear seat on the first day , try getting that out off cloth. Car is 3 years old and still smells new.
I must add I didn't have to pay extra, but I think I would next time anyway.
Leather for sure, we spilt a whole 600ml coke on the rear seats and it cleaned up so easy, dunno if it was the protectant or the leather but damn i was lucky. Also i hated the cloth seats they look ugly.
And when driving at night with the windows down wearing shorts and a t shirt the heated seats are well worth it.
Tartan looks sweet, especially on a 3 door TR GTI!!!!!!! Have a cup of concrete and harden up if you think it is cold enough for heated seats in Australia, haha.

Haha, you clearly haven't been far from home if you think Australia can't get cold. I've ridden to work (eastern shore to city) on my motorbike at -7c in Hobart. Not all that far, but I wouldn't have minded heated seat and handlebars, I can tell you.......
I went to Scotch College (Launceston), and had enough tartan there to last me a lifetime.
I've ordered Latte Leather and I won't be sorry
Heating might not get used much in Melbourne, though.

2008 Blue Graphite GTI DSG with Latte leather. SOLD 4/9/2024
Leather is awesome, I was originally planning on getting the cloth but changed my mind at the last minute. The heated seats were very welcome this morning!!!
IMO, Leather is what sets the Golf apart from other cars in this category. It just gives it a bit more class.
I've heard from several people that the latte leather shows marks, scuffs, etc really easily (though if looked after properly, they should come off pretty easily too).
