  • Leather or Interlagos Cloth?

Hi all, I am keen on getting a GTI 5dr in a couple of mths. I see most people on here have gone with leather. I'm not so sure whether I should get leather and I'm not sure what would sway my decision in deciding on leather. I really like the tartan look. Did anyone have the same problem in deciding on which interior to go for or is it obvious....leather should be standard?

    ....decisions.....decisions.

    For me 2 points.

Heated, far and away the best gadget on the car, coldest morning your toasty warm in 5. also the cool embossed GTI in the headrest, i do like the cloth though they were cool in my mk2.

Easy to keep clean, have kids in the back. saves on steam cleaning bills lik my wifes car.

Oh thanks Smuts. Did you get leather for easy-clean? I don't have kids (not yet anyway). On really hot days your skin will be sticking to the leather and the air-con will be cranking.
It would be good to see the latte leather in a red GTI...not sure how that would look.

I went for cloth as i like the old school feel to it. it breaks up the interior as well, i found the leather made the interior look a bit plain, but thats just me.

btw, you get the embossed GTI on the cloth too.

Ive never been that cold that ive needed heated seats, but then again i dont live in canberry, melb or tassie

Thanks Anarchycamp. I think you're right. The cloth is something special...and leather smells. haha. Yeah I knew the cloth was embossed with 'gti'. Thanks.

i decided on the interlagos cloth as i feel its different to most cloth interiors. Although the idea of heated leather seats were tempting, the cloth looked more sporty..

Even though it gets freezing where i live and if you park outside of a night your car will most likely freeze over, just crank the heating, put on a few extra layers and you'll be right

Okay, I think the tartan wins! Plus it's no extra $$$. It gets cold here where I am....freezing actually.

It depends where you live. If you are in Queensland or NT then I wouldnt get the leather. If you live in Cooma, ACT, or anywhere within a couple of hours from the snow then maybe the heated seats would be great to have.

I live in Western Sydney and I dont see the need for heated seats.

Tartan ONLY looks good on pleated mini skirts

Heated seats are the best and leather is a bit more classy, however I find the cloth seems to hold the new car smell longer.

It gets really cold here, sometimes a min of 2 degrees or less. In summer it can get to 40. Anyway, haven't got my car yet so can't tell you what interior I got. I'll be happy with either.
