Yep. Its very efficient at getting you to the posted speed limits.

GTI is not as good as the R32 at bringing a grin when accelerating gently through an underground carpark.

And thats where it matters. Alot.

I know the feeling, every time I hear an R32 I'm just jealous.

But, I went with the practical approach, the TDI GT Sport.
      HWY: 6.2L/100K
CITY: ~8.5L/100k (giving it plenty of boot), about 7 if I grandpa it..... but its not fun to drive then.

as I mentioned in another post, 3400KM in 8 days..... kinda gives you a good feel for the car and I'm glad I got the GT.

if I had another round, I would be hard pressed between the R32 and the GTI pirelli.

I just want VW to drop a 3.0L V6 TDI into the golf 250 kW (340 PS; 335 bhp), NOW we're talking

I'd like to see a apr stage 1 gti vs the r32 in this case.... I think the results would be alot closer...

Besides straight line performance, another important point is the amount of extra stuff you get on the R as opposed to the GTI. Leather and xenons are standard, colour coded kit (a major gripe for many gti owners), great exhaust (no need to upgrade), AWD, good looking 18s, and a lot more presence on the road. It added up for me

                don't forget the heated seats

the GTI I was quoted on for 43K changover had the leather, xenons, metallic and dsg so the extra ~7k is for heated seats, AWD, German build, 18 inch, colour coded kit and no fogs

I'm thinking the AWD would cost more to service than the GTI due to it's increased complexity (vs. GTI) - anyone know roughly how much extra it is per year as far as maintenance goes?

And I also heard you have to change all four tyres at a time with the AWD? Is that true or just bs?

                thanks

as long as you rotate your tyres regurally, you should have even wear and have no reason to only replace 2 tyres.

                  regardless of R32 or GTI

When you option leather on the GT or GTI this includes the heated seats!

3 Door GTI is a German build as well.

                      It's Simple.

If you can afford the R32 then get it.

If its going to be a struggle then the GTI will still be a great car.

i believe this is the case too as the Euro emission laws wont allow for the V6 to be used again.

not even sure if the MKVI GTI-R will make it into production yet
