Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Front left dipped beam defective - GTI MK5 w/ Bi-Xenons

    Hi guys

Started getting a warning this morning on my dash stating "Front left dipped beam defective!" in the MK5 GTI. The headlights are Factory fitted Bi-Xenons, can someone please confirm what I require to fix this? All lights appear to be working, so I'm suspecting it may be failing?

Quick instructions would be fantastic as well.

    Thanks

    Probably the HID globe.
Powerbulbs.com have a 20% special at the moment.
Should replace both sides at once.

Thanks again, it did appear that my left gave in eventually - turned a little pink before doing so. Figured wouldn't hurt trying taking the bulb out and putting it back in, my god it was fiddly and I'm glad I have small hands...

The wife will drive the GTI while I wait for new bulbs, looking forward to driving the R36 to work for the next week or so Powerbulbs certainly look like my best bet.
