Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Yes, I was told they run all the dealership cars on 95 (except the diesels).

You need to check. BP here in qld has an E10 unleaded, but its just your run of the mill 91 or 92 or whatever it is these days.

As I've said previously, the BP product burns the cleanest. It is the better fuel.

Also I'll search around later tonite, but there was a test done in Melbourne a while back with a WRX, they drained and dried the tank between fuels. Same dyno same car etc to get power figures.

geoff_gti is correct, there is no ethanol content in WA fuels (at least for now).

The dealer I bought my car from runs all their cars on 95, due in part to them only having a contract with Gull, who don't even have 98RON fuel.

I use 98 from BP, Shell or Mobil in my Jetta TFSI.

Interestingly my old Land Rover Freelander would never run right on BP Ultimate for some reason. Bizzare.

My Jeep gets fed Woolies Caltex 98 - it needs the octane to stop pinging, and I'm not so worried about fuel quality with it.

Doesn't matter here in WA. There's only 1 refinery and that's BP. The fuels should all be the same.

Me too - only BP Ultimate or Vortex 98.

BP always a minimum of 2c/L more than Vortex and i can use the occassional woolies docket at Caltex taking it too 6c/L cheaper for not too much of a notable difference.

As uncompetitive as those shopper docket thingies are they help when you are topping up the tank every week with 98RON.

Got to admit though only going thru as much fuel as i do due to ATOs silly FBT rules. Encouraging me to drive my car amore nd increase my carbon footprint each year by racking up min 25000kms just isnt good
