Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • What did you have before your Mk5?

How does your previous car compare with your Mk5?

I have had my Jetta for about 3 weeks now coming from a 99 SAAB 95. The SAAB was/is a nice car but no comparison with the Jetta. Just had an ECU upgrade on the Jetta also which puts an even bigger gap between them.

    What about you guys?

PS: I have a SAAB for sale if anyones interested

I went from a late 2000 Holden Astra 1.8 Olympic edition 5 speed manual sedan in Silver to a 2007 Jetta 2.o FSI tiptronic ,also in Silver.
I said I was upgrading...everyone else said it was a massive upgrade, which it certainly was...
And loved the Astra whilst I had it.

          Landcruiser Prado.
I thought about my old fuel bill today 160 litre tank(s), and felt sorry for the guy I sold it to.
There's a bit less body roll in the golf, but the ground clearance isn't as good now that i'm on coils...

          before that it was a 1969 Mini K 1100
          I'm who appreciates contrast.

BA GT. All I miss is the noise, the oiler is just that much fun.
Seems I have a thing for grey...

                *cringe*

First one was the biggest lemon - weekly visits to service dept. over course of a year....finally I had enough, got the lawyers involved and got a replacement car out of them! hehe

Replacement car was flawless...lost big dough on the resale though.
