Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Damn it!
My CW MY08 Golf GTI (5 dr, leather, DSG, BT) arrived and was all ready for tinting and pickup later tomorrow.
Except.... when I went to sign the lease docs etc. I had a look and noticed.....
....it was missing 2 doors!!!
The dealer had accidentally ordered the 3 dr rather than the 5 dr version.
Hmmmm.
Will take about 10 days for the correct car to arrive and be ready for pickup.
The dealer and all the staff have been absolutely fantastic otherwise with service, pricing, finance etc. so I am trying to keep things in persepctive. With the online ordering system I can see how such a mistake could happen.
Still... very disappointing as I was to pick up the car tomorrow lunchtime.

I won't get my GTI until late next week at the earliest (hopefully with all 5 doors this time....)
Unless the scratch is enormous, don't worry, you've just initiated the car!

On Friday we picked up our Candy White 2.0TDI DSG Pacific and promptly put 1200km on it during a weekend away.
My impressions???
WOW!!! Hills? What hills! Overtaking? Done in a flash! Economy? Still running in with a mixture of hard driving and gentle ambling along as the traffic dictated. The handling is brilliant and in the wet gave me no anxious moments.
It is a lot different to the the late (and lamented) VR6 due the huge rush of torque and power which continues to higher RPMs, where the VR6 only started to get up and go above 3500rpm and then what a rush with engine and exhaust note to accompany.
Like the VR6 the TDI seems to want to settle on about 130 kmh in the cruise if I am not careful, or use the cruise control, as SWMBO was constantly reminding me to slow down. We have certainly made a good choice.
Some people have questioned our financial acumen as we were told we could have got a *********** for less than half the price of a Golf and had a five year warranty as well. For me it is not just the destination only, it is the joy of getting there too.2008 Pacific CW 2.0 TDI DSG

Hi everyone,
Well I picked up my brand new VW Golf GTI on Tuesday, but due to the crap weather we have had in Sydney the last 2 days I haven't been able to take any pictures.
So far I am loving it, can't wait until it's run in a bit more.
I ended up with the following:
MY09 Golf GTI, DSG, Black, Leather, Sunroof & Tint.
Looking forward to learing more about the car and possibly joining some GTGs in the future.
I would like to make some minor visual changes such as a "stubby" ariel and the open side vents as I prefer the look. Apart from that possibly a tune of some sort down the track.
Happy Dubbing
