Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Why does delivery take so long for the OEM ones?

I had my LED's in 4 days after paying for them from Ebay seller
I used to be indecisive - now I'm just not sure....

personally, i think the OEM ones are the way to go. I would assume that they are of much better quality and the fact the the whole LED ring lights up for brakes and indicators is a big plus! you might be paying more for them, but they are a much better product.

Quality on mine can't be faulted. The fact the OEM ones operate exactly the same as Jetta tails is undeniably great but as I can't see them operate whilst I drive it's something I'm not overly concerned about

I would have gone for OEM LED's myself if they weren't so ridiculously over priced and take so long to arrive. I now have pretty much the same look with the DEPO ones and still have $400+ left in my pocket.

Niche market so charge what they like? Frustrating though when you see the Jetta ones being sold at half the price

You can actually get the Golf OEM LED's direct off a few sellers on ebay as well if you search hard enough. Probably get them faster and less freight than the US sites as well.

You can sell your R32 ones though for around $400 so it offsets a lot of the cost of the LED ones.

                    I meant they're worth $100.

                    Ok I'll buy them

I want the LED ones but it's a big jump to ~$550-600 for the LED ones, should have purchased them when the dollar was at .98! Personally I wouldn't upgrade from GTI stock to R32 stock like some do for $500+ as the LED's are not that much more.

Yeah, the price it's crazy, the wait..............if I wait for months looking for them another week for the arrive doesn't harm,

BUT! what I feel it's really crap is that there's no places here in Australia, so we don't have to depend from Euro o US shops, waiting, or cracking our brains doing modifications because the "OEM's" are for them not for us,

Anyway Im happy to get mines the next week!,

                        Cheers!

Dont know if Thor Ray has fitted his yet, but mine have arrived and I put them straight on! They're OEMs from TMTuning. Just fitted but havent switched the fog/reverse lenses yet. Expensive, but I love em! I think they go really well with the United Grey paint too.
Even my wife approved as she said the indicator is much more obvious at night when the brake lights are on.

MK5Sportline - you're right. They look really hot contrasting with United Grey and those dark tinted windows. You've got a winner there!
