Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The fun in driving a manual isn't in engaging your left leg, or in moving a stick side to side a bit as you move it forward and back - it's in the control a manual gearbox gives you, and driven in manual mode, you get exactly the same control with a DSG gearbox as you do with a traditional manual, minus the left leg aerobics and missed gates because you pushed too hard in a direction you shouldn't have.
As a bonus, you get gearchanges that are faster than you could achieve manually, better power delivery and better fuel consumption than with a traditional manual or automatic gearbox.
What's not to love?Nothing to see here...

Yeah, I wouldn't have bought an auto. I found the dsg for want of a better word 'thought/thinks' more like a manual driver would. Holds speed better going down hill over an auto. Really after 4.5years of a carbon button 3600lb clutch mixed with the rest of my car, I'm very happy to not have a clutch I have to think about.

from a standstill it behaves like an auto. is this the clutches slipping until you have enough speed up for them to engage fully?1974 1300 Beetle, 1997 Golf GL, 2003 New Beetle Cabrio, 2014 Audi A4 quattro

For whatever reason all the leaves and debris that lands on the rear windscreen gets trapped behind the rear bumper next to the tail lights, I didn't think it was much of a problem initially but it's seriously corrected a lot of leaves in there and each time I push on it I can hear the leaves and small twigs in there crackling away, should I take it back to the dealer to get it fixed up and all the leaves taken out of it?MkV Jetta
