  • 15000 Jetta Service

The 15,000klm service was carried out on the Jetta at a cost of $288 + gst = $316.80 (inc $186 labour). In the 1st 15,675 klm of life, it has used 1046 litres of diesel at a cost of $1447 (ave 138.3c per litre). That's an average of 6.67l/100klm (14.98kpl - 42.5mpg) which equates to 9.2c per klm. Compare that to the apparently so called "green" Toyota Corolla at http://www.greenvehicleguide.gov.au/...skWebForm.aspx to which I say bollocks.

Their forms seem to not work on my browser?

However the cars that did come up, it seems a bit of a surprise that the ratings can be a full star ahead of some other cars?

Just curious; how important is the 15000km service? Is it very bad if the first service is skipped?

Yep. The first x km of an engine's life are when it beds itself in, any rough edges are worked out, and you'll find a lot of metal particles in the oil.

It's probably the worst service to skip other than the ones where a timing belt is due to be replaced on an interference engine...
        Nothing to see here...

Wow, that's a pretty cheap service.
May I ask what sort of stuff did they do as part of the service?

I recently called up my dealer asking about a 7500km oil change and was quoted $280.

My dealer (Burwin) just did a service for me at 10,000 km (on an R32), and it cost $140.
