    Guys,

hopefully ive got this right as i joined the forums after i ordered my car. I ordered the bluetooth kit from VW upon purchase in Feb. Im assuming this is the 'parrot' system everyone is going on about.

So from what i can gather its pretty average hey? Anyone use it with a blackberry? Thoughts?

Am abit worries now, that its going to be useless....

This thread is about what VW are calling "Premium Bluetooth" which is different to the parrot system.

The "Premium Bluetooth" involved was described as the British VW Premium Bluetooth kit with full integration with the RNS 510.

It will be here in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know how it goes.
Keep us posted on developments as my dealer hasn't the slightest clue (or interest) when the premium bluetooth will be available.

Can you get some more info? i.e. part numbers etc...

Sorry mate didn't mean to be rude!

You'll find heaps of info on the parrot system in the forum - in general most people don't rate them highly.

He doesn't provide the Skoda part but the VW part* (essentially the same but the VW part can have less problems I understand with compatibility) and offers a warranty* on the kit*/install*.

*I only briefly talked to him about this so my price and/or information may be incorrect.

The kit is highly recommended, I can't recommend it enough (especially as the voice control actually works).

Yeah, I've got one on order with Guy. Can't wait to get it in. The team down there are great. Install it and everything. There are heaps of snappable plastic clips (holding the interior together) to get around if you install it yourself. I've seen their GTI and its all setup great. Having a seperate screen (ie: with the parrot) would be annoying. With the premium it all comes up on your display behind the steering wheel and you use the steering wheel buttons to scroll through your address book and make the call. Give them a call or go down and they can show you through theirs. Its great. Bummer about the VW dealer mate.

                Sydney

                Hi all,

So I've had the same news from my dealer, no genuine bluetooth kit available in time for delivery with my car on Friday... I've told them not to worry and remove it from the purchase price.

Just wondering if anyone knows of and can recommend someone in Sydney to install one of the imported kits?

I'm tossing up whether to attempt it myself, but I'm a bit nervous about pulling apart a brand new $60k car!

I've heard recommendations for The Car Kit Company before, anyone know if they'd install a kit if I ordered one from o/s? (I know they offer the Parrot kit for VWs).

Problem is they were saying the same thing 1-2 months ago!!

Anyone heard the latest news on this? I'd heard that VWA are working on a bluetooth kit that will fully integrate with RNS - but apparently it's different from the official VW premium bluetooth kit. Of course I could be wrong...

It's another parrot pile of crud. They are not going to be selling the european bluetooth that properly fully integrates, installs easier, works great, is reliable and is a proper solution.

Instead they choose to sell some crappy hacked together kit.

I've been waiting since March and no matter how many times i've asked VW i still have NO IDEA what is going to be released as "Premium Bluetooth"!

I'm glad it's not just me that's getting the run around. VW should wake-up and stop treating their loyal customer base like morons - i swear if i hear "it will be released next month" one more time i'll punch someone. I'll be even madder if i've waited all this time only to find out it's just a tarted up parrot system with a "Premium" price tag.

                          Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Do you have details on the hacked together kit - or is this just what you've heard in the rumor mill?

I haven't seen any posts on this for a while but I was in the same circumstances...and can now provide an update since I have the genuine kit installed.

After the kit was installed I queried the dealer as to why the MFD had no interaction with the phone at all. The only thing we could do was to answer the phone via the button on the steering wheel. I was assured this was the "premium kit". Accordingly, the "premium kit" as shown in our RNS-510 manual should have all sorts of on screen capabilities and I have seen it operate in European golfs.

Following up with the dealer we were told that there was a crisis call going in to VW Australia because many people had complained about this.

The salesman rang me today to say that the real reason for the lack of features is that the Bluetooth kit was accidentally activating airbags and this was therefore a safety feature. I do not believe this as there are no reports on the web about it.

If anyone can share info on this it would be great. I am going to take this up with VW direct to see what their response is. They shouldn't ship a manual that, despite the disclaimers at the end of the book, still suggests we should be getting additional funcionality.

You have what the dealer is telling you is the genuine kit just like theyve done in the past with the crap parrot kits.
