Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Used in older spring-powered mechanical watches and clocks, a fusee is a cone-shaped pulley with a spiral groove around it, wound with a cord or chain which is attached to the mainspring barrel.

Is there much difference between the TDI golf and TDI Jetta fuel consumption? I have done some research but its always better to ask owners then what vw have quoted the consumption to be in the best possible scenario.
Rams, Welcome and remember it also depend on what sort of driving you do. We do about half & half and recently on a country run returned 5.2l/100 on a 697klm round trip in the DSG Jetta TDi. We are currently averaging 6 in the city (half freeway, half suburbia) Also, dont look at the price of fuel. Sure diesel is higher, but it costs us just under 10c per klm with diesel @ $1.60 (that's 16klm per litre).

A diesel is different. You are much more a part of the motoring experince. You can hear (and sometimes even smell) the engine. You notice when it's working hard and when it's just coasting on torque - and it challenges you to improve your driving skills to get the most from it.

My 2.0 TDI Jetta is the most fun I've had on (modern) wheels for a very long time.
            Very nicely put.

I'd have to agree that this little "hairdresser" car is a blast, and I just adore driving it. Like 'Riley so aptly points out, it "feels" like a real drivers car to me. Giddyup!
