I've just had the chance to put the better part of a thousand kms onto the R32, with a Great Ocean Rd, and SW Victoria drive. I just love that car. Fuel consumption for the trip was just over 9 lt/100kms, and the average on the 'long term' meter had fallen to 10.1, which I considered quite acceptable given how much stop start driving the car does.

What did surprise me though, was that I noticed that the 'long term' measure had reset itself at some point on the drive back. I presume we'd hit the 100 hour mark, but had assumed that that meant it would simply keep a rolling tally of the last 100 hours, whereas it actually reset and started counting again. The manual doesn't seem all that specific, so I presume that must be the normal.

A small glitch came up too. We leave the headlights on auto, and after one stop noticed that the left front parking light was still on. Starting and then stopping the engine seemed to fix things.

Launch control got its first run. What a hoot.

And RNS 510 is installed tomorrow.

    Glad you're enjoying the car!

If you'd switched the car off with your left hand indicator on, the car will leave the left hand parker & tail lamp on. Likewise on the right hand side. You should hear the headlight chime 'dinging' when you open the door if you have the indicator in this position. The chime will switch off when you close the door.

Thanks for that...it's exactly what I'd done.

How do you do launch control?

Stop the car. Place left foot firmly on brake.

          Sport mode or manual

          ESP off

Floor throttle - revs will rise to 3000 rpm and then stop.

Sidestep the brake...very slight pause, and then the car launches.

It's in the manual somewhere or other. Temperatures need to be in the normal range, and of course, you need a DSG gearbox.
