  • identifying a/c compressor

I have a jetta my10 TDI with air con blowing hot air on start up.
Have read up on RCV problem and would like to identify if mine is Sanden PXE16 or other.
Also need to identify if current RCV is clip or hex nut type.
Dumb question where to start ?
Do I need to pull off plastic covers under car to get access to compressor. Couldn't see a thing from under bonnet.
Any other way to determine without visual identrification e.g VIN ?

    regards Mark

Best bet is to grab a set of ramps, drive the car up, use the torx/hex set and take off the cover. You should be able to see a sticker on the ac comp.
I used my vin number and asked around, and everyone told me that it was a sanden pxe16.. when I actually went to do the job, I realised it was not
Current - 07 MKV Golf GTi, 6-Spd-M, White.

    Previous - 04 WRX, 99 WRX, 98 WRX.

        got down and dirty and finally idendified a/c . it a sanden 1K0 820 859 F.
someone offered me one with same part number except ending in S - i.e 1K0 820 859 S.
wondering if the last digit variation is significant ?

however still favouring an rcv swap so
took a few pictures of what I think is RCV valve but not really sure on how to distinguish the 2 different types of RCV - hex v snapcap i think are the two different varieties.
