Replacement Key / Remote - Melbourne Locksmith & Coder Required

I ordered a keyless entry device off ebay for $15 that I'll try to program myself using google. Even if I can't get it to work, $15 isn't much to lose and I can always have the dealer as a fall back plan. I'm also going to call Coral Spring Locksmith and see they copy/program transponder keys - then i feel satisfactory service.

Hey guys,

Picked up an 07 GTI recently. Only came with one key unfortunately.

I bought a blank key to suit off eBay, and am now looking for someone/somewhere that will be able to program the remote and cut the key blade.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

( Yes - I did google a bunch of auto locksmiths in Melbourne - but just wondering if the forum has anyone on here that they have used before - and what sort of coin they paid to get it done. )

The ignition cylinder reads the chip and the key cuts.You have the other new key and it should easily outlive the rest of the car's expected life. If you are really worried, then you need to have a Locksmith or dealer with the proper chipped key blanks make a new key.

You don't need to buy blank key from ebay or any other sites.This will cost you more , you must hire a Locksmith near you which will provide you blank key and cut it as remote key and then they program it at very reasonable cost.

I need a new spare key (it was water damaged (so I needed a new chip)) but somehow it's gone missing so I'll need a whole new key.

Anyone have any good contacts?

So I have the blade from my 2015 A3.

I have tried swapping it to another FOB but it locks the car up. Apparently only authorized guys can encode the used key?

The key works only in the remote with water damage, if I place that blade in another key - no luck it locks the car up.

So does anyone know someone that can program the remote?

I know two guys in Melbourne who do this pretty well, one is Volksaffair (here: European Car & German Cars Service Specialist Melbourne | Volks Affair) and the other is Amlock (here: Locksmith Collingwood | Amalgamated Locksmiths). Heads up, Volksaffair is pricey so I wouldn't go with them unless you're doing something else for your car with them already, so I reckon Amlock is the better of the two if you want to get a fresh key cut for cheap. Most guys do this service but I have a good experience with these guys.

Can you post some picture of the blade? It's not the actual blade that needs to be changed over, but a small RFID tranceiver inside.

Well you must contact nearby locksmith for getting the new key. Their cost must be decent and key will be available to you instantly.

Thanks for the help guys i have hired locksmith chula vista for the new key. They charged me fair for the key.

I have bought blank from the ebay and called rochester locksmith to cut and program it. Their charges were so reasonable as compared to other companies.
