Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

G'day all. Thanks for having me here. Picking up a new Pacific 2.0 TDI DSG next Wednesday. Sold the VY Commodore S, so I'm waiting in nervous anticipation. SWMBO wanted a smaller car, so here we go.
Did my research and settled on Golf, so here's hoping.
    Cheers

I wouldn't say settled, I would say made a wise choice

I'm sure you won't regret your purchase.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

SWMBO - I had to Google that one! Hah!

      Welcome to the board.

You'll need to tell us how you specced it or you'll be hounded to death!

And sooner or later some pix will be requested - just a heads-up

            Congrats on the purchase!

The TDI + DSG combo is awesome. Enjoy!

Do your homework on running in a diesel engine - there's some links on this site, and www.tdiclub.com has a bunch of info as well.

            Cheers,

Well done, no need to be nervous.
I just traded my VXII Clubsport that I'd had since new for a GT Sport TDI DSG.
I was so worried whether I'd made the right decision or not but believe me I havent looked back.
I've had the GT Sport for 2.5 weeks now and its great especially since i had the Neuspeed pro cup kit with Koni FSD's fitted earlier this week, the car rides and handles exactly how i'd like it to.
The TDI with the DSG is an excellent combo, heaps of torque from the diesel and I'm not missing the power of the Clubby at all really.
Another advantage is the fuel economy. In the clubby I'd get about 420ks to 70l. In the Gt Sport i get about 760ks to 50l. Svaing about $45 per week
                    Have fun, you'll enjoy it.

I traded in a BF XR6 Turbo on the Pacific three weeks ago, it was the best move yet. The savings start with the first fill up. I transferred the insurance [nine months left to run] got a full year on the Golf and a refund cheque of $100. I am very pleased with the grunt of the diesel and the DSG box
